5.0 out of 5 stars The Books of Enoch - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd by Joseph Lumpkin 22 Feb 2011
By TAnijar - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I started by reading the 3rd Book of Enoch, the Hebrew book, which is a revelation given to Rabbi Ishmael between 90 and 130 AD. The book was not written by Enoch himself, but it is the revelation given to this Rabbi. The book is presented in its entirety. Enoch is called Metatron, and he has 70 names just as the Almighty G-d according to Jewish Mysticism - Kaballa. It is an interesting revelation and it presents Enoch as an angel that it is in charge of all the angels in heaven, this is also mentioned in the 1st and 2nd book of Enoch. Enoch is taken to heaven at the same time that the Shekina (Glory of G-d) of G-d in the Garden of Eden is taken into heaven. I enjoyed this book, and it revealed much of what happens in heaven, the orders of the angels, and the princes that have the name of G-d at the end of their names. How there is a Sanhedrin in the heaven, and what G-d gave Israel to do in this earth is a foreshadow of what is done in the heavens.

The 2nd Book of Enoch or the Slovanic Enoch is a short book and it reveals the ascension of Enoch progressively through multiple heavens and he is transfigured into an angel and given the secrets of creation. It also reveals that a woman in her old age by the name of Nir the wife of Noah's younger brother gives birth to Melchizedek without intercourse (miraculous birth) while about to die and the boy is born with the appearance of a 3 years old child and the symbol of the priesthood on his chest.

First Enoch - talks about the fall of the watchers - angels, that came down to earth and had children with the daughters of humans and begotten giants upon the land. The land could not sustain these giants and they started to eat the flesh of men. They perverted mankind and many animals. G-d intercedes by destroying the children of these fallen angels by turning them against each other and by the flood to cleanse the earth of their seed. These angels were the ones that taught mankind how to make swords and shieds for war, witchcraft, how to write, put makeup on, and all kinds of evils. It mentions one called "The Elect One" and "the Son of Man." It reveals future prophecies that must come to pass before the great judgement of G-d.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emperor Constantine Was An Idiot! 15 July 2010
By Exchronos - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Yeah, that's right. He's the guy who had the convention to decide what's canon in Christianity and what's not. He's an idiot for throwing out the Book of Enoch 1.

Now thus far I've only read the preface of Joseph Lumpkin's book and I stopped reading at Enoch 1:41. It says that Enoch 1 is divided into three parts, and the first part ended at Enoch 1:37. All I can say is wow, it all makes sense!

No demonination in the USA considers Enoch to be canon, if they even know about it. Thank the Holy One for Ethiopia! Seriously, if you want to know the score, the lowdown, on the events leading up to the Flood and how God was already preparing for Judgement Day and sending the Elect One (which in Christianity would turn out to be Jesus Christ) during the Old Testament this is what you read. Parts of Genesis and Revelation refer to and quote Enoch 1. It's the missing link between Old and New Testaments. It gives you a roll call of the Angels, a tour of Heaven and antedilluvian Earth, possibly the planning stages for creating Hell, and you learn the fate of the slain Abel.

You know the obscure reference to giants in Genesis? Enoch 1 explains that the giants were the corrupt offspring that happened after some Angels decided to leave Heaven and impregnate some lovely human ladies. When they get punished they become demons, their offspring evil spirits, it's the origin story of Hell!

Seriously, after only reading as far into the book as I have, it all makes sense. These rogue angels caused mankind's eventual downfall to the flood. As their actions unfolded God needed a back-up plan. Creating Hell, divulging to Enoch about Judgement Day, and setting things in motion for Noah to start building the ark as well as deciding to eventually send in Jesus. Enoch was given the inside info because he was chosen to be the Earthly communicator between God and the fallen angels who had corrupted the Earth. I kid you not, knowing this stuff really makes a huge difference.

Early Christians knew Enoch 1. Jesus knew Enoch 1. The writers of Revelation like Paul and Jude knew it. Seriously, I recommend anybody who thinks they know their Bible to read this. It should already be part of your Bible!

The preface even goes on to list other known missing Biblical works, stuff that is still mentioned in the Bible but got cut out by Constantine or others later on.

Enoch 1 was even part of the Dead Sea Scrolls! This should be required reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY coherent translations of these arcane Apocryphal works!!!! 2 Jun 2011
By KC Griffin - Published on
When I was in High school [over a decade ago] I printed out the best available, highly fragmented, and contextually orphaned copies of every Apocryphal work I could find in an effort to grasp what it was that early Church fathers failed to include in the Holy Bible and what's more, forcibly wiped off the face of the Earth from the library at Alexandria to the furthest reaches of the Crusades. These "heretical" texts have always fascinated me and while their rote translation most certainly added to the mystery it did little to make sense of what exactly the Church had gone so far to eradicate let alone make coherent sense of these works in context of the Bible as we know it today. In light of centuries where scribes had flavored the original texts to suit their more Christian values, there seems to be within these books much evidence of the missing links between Judaism and Christianity that the Church had rather swept under the rug. Gnostic Christian teachings and Coptic texts which do not serve the Early Church are obliterated from the record in any meaningful remains are until now lost deep in uncertain terms and over-analyzed on the one end or fragmented word for word renderings that loose all their mystique and cohesion for the sake of precise translation.

Joseph Lumpkin has addressed these ancient and scholarly texts with the attention to detail necessary to absorb the material in the way the authors intended giving special care to words with no English equivalent without the hassle of footnotes, and without loosing the cohesive nature of the narrative style which is so critical to the ease with which the content of these books pours from its pages upon the readers' body of knowledge as a parched soul is quenched by waters of ancient Truth and eased by the honey of its story telling. My next purchase will FOR SURE be the Encyclopedic Resource on the Apocryphal by Joseph Lumpkin.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good layout, EZ read... well, considering the subject... 5 Jan 2011
By Robin R. Bolt - Published on
Worth buying, also shows (1Enoch*) vs. the later 2Enoch, does not show the Hebrew version in the volume I have by the same writer. Buy it, it's worth seeing the time and cycles and placing them against the time cycles now... think back and you'll see how even the Jewish calendar was/is different, but now that we know the world isn't flat we can see how dead-on this was. If you study religion this is one book that you'll keep going back to.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for every christian 12 Jun 2013
By rcngrunt - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book has a great introduction. The author clearly demonstrates that both Jews and early Christians were familiar with the book of Enoch. True students of the Bible need to read many of the writings that were not accepted as cannon. When you read them you will find some that are spurious and others that are thought provoking. This book will definitely make you think. You don't have to believe everything in the book or even that the book is credible. That is what Bible study is about. Reading and thinking.
