This is a very underground outfit. I only own this on CD, and their album before (Rotting) on vinyl, but it's very good. One of the most insane drum tracks I've ever heard. They always seem to be talking about very young girls, which is something that I can't really talk about, but their lyrics seem to get better with age. By this I mean that the lyrics on Rotting aren't as good as the lyrics on this.
They are still around, and have just released an MCD called Crust, and have had a tribute record done.
Sarcofago are apparently the band that made Euronymous of Mayhem wear corpse paint, as they formed in 1985, which is just before Mayhem, and also around the time of the start of Sepultura. This means, that like Sepultura, they signed to the label that was set up for Sepultura; Cogumelo Records. The record label is still alive, and is still home to Sarcofago.
Back to the music, as I sadi, very fast drums. Faster times on the songs this time, as Rotting only had 6, and this has 10. Guitars also very fast and thrashy, as most 80's into 90's bands maintained. As black metal goes, it's mainly the vocals that have carried through the genre as we know it, as the primitive guitar mix is actually quite underground death metal styled, rather then black, but it still maintains the rawness, and satanic influences of contempory black metal.
Modern day comparitives could be Dark Funeral, Marduk, but not much else.
Recommended tracks - Most of them. I'd like to get the lyrice to 'The Black Vomit' though.
Really a must for people who like to find out the history of metal, and also like the old sounds of the 80's, but it's still quite fresh and brutal if you like it that way!
