Product Description

Product Description

As good design is the key to a successful garden, this book has collected together some of the best of today' s structural garden plans, providing practical solutions for smaller gardens in both town and country. After an introduction that gives specific advise on the advantages and restrictions of designing a garden for a smaller space and how problems can be resolved, the book features some 150 structural garden plans divided into thematic chapters. The plans include those for problem sites, such as small, narrow, shaded or sloping gardens, as well as key garden features such as steps, decking, boundaries, water features, lighting, and ornaments, together with key planting.

This book was very helpful to me - looking at all the designs - plus they had many designs that were the size of my garden - taking bits and pieces of the designs and putting one together for my own garden turned out really well - the book gave me ideas that I would never have thought of, now my garden which is nearly finished looks great. I would recommend this book if you are looking for ideas.

I loathed this book. Most of the designs were pretentious and fussy and very few actually designed gardens.Glass, metal, wood, plastic but , apart from a few, virtually nothing about planting. Far too many designs and not enough information about any of them. when I compare it with e.g. Tim Newbury's Ultimate Garden Designer or John Brookes' Small Garden ........ it really hasn't much to recommend it.
