Book Description

5 Nov 2009 Book of Outrageous ...
Be prepared to plant tongue firmly in cheek and suspend disbelief, as our Viking-haired rock warriors from down the ages wax lyrical on subjects as diverse as: sex; drugs; touring; wealth; poverty; dwarfs; mainstream religion; cults; Satanism and, of course, good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll!!! From Lemmy on organised religion to Courtney Love on her drug habits to Ozzy on a life lived in total chaos, The Book of Outrageous Rock Quotes will confirm all your worst prejudices about the practitioners of heavy metal, punk and grunge rock. As unbelievable anecdote follows crazed opinion, the rock industry confirms its status as the perfect antidote to a 9-to-5 existence or to life itself, if you don t have the constitution to survive it. The Book of Outrageous Rock Quotes turns the noise up to 11 - just like Spinal Tap! Telling the stories of lives lived to the limit in the rock stars own confessional words, compiler and illustrator Paul Goodwin complements all the excess with affectionately funny cartoon caricatures of the world's favourite rock gods.

Product Description

Review

My advice is to read a quote and then imagine mouthing it yourself. What the hell would be going on in your head to make you say such a thing? . . . my mind actually starts painting pictures of scenarios to fit the quotes and I get a snapshot of how life as Ozzy might actually be. (Help! Am I ill?) --from the Foreword by Tim Shaw, Liberator of UK Radio

About the Author

Paul Goodwin is a lifelong rock fan and a devotee of some of the performers whose shameless statements are included in this hilariously eyebrow-raising anthology. He is the author of Electric Pioneer: An Armchair Guide to Gary Numan (Helter Skelter 2004), and also a cartoonist whose work illustrates this volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars love it! 14 Jan 2010
bought this book for my husband over Christmas and i'm glad i did because it really made us all laugh. there's some very, very funny comments in here from Ozzy osbourne that had me rewatching the osbournes on DVD. Loved the cartoons, someone really should make tshirts for some of them, ozzy with terrified doves in his pockets is just so funny.
Ideal purchase for anyone who hates the boredom of train journeys and waiting round in airports!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny book 13 Jan 2010
Now this is what you call funny! There must be over 800 quotes here and all of them are hilarious! From Ozzy to Slade to kiss to lost prophets, each and every band that has ever lived under the heavy metal umbrella is served here with a seriously funny quote. This book now sits on my bathroom floor, I tell you, I just love my bathroom breaks now. Very, very funny book.
