About the Author

I was born and raised in Liverpool and from an early age I have always enjoyed making up stories. I'm interested in many genres but I would not complain if I was referred to as a thriller writer. I enjoy writing fast paced stories that intend to grab the readers attention from the start. To date, I have completed four novels, two of which are as yet unpublished - but another will hopefully be coming to KDP before the end of 2012. With the advent of e-books I have decided to take a deep breath and publish my work on the web and I am currently writing a sequel to The Shifting, that I call The Burning. My personal hero is my grandfather Angus Mackenzie Brown, because he always lived his life with dignity despite what life threw at him, including incarceration in a Prisoner of War Camp in Italy, from which he escaped and lived to tell the tale. I am in the process of editing my forthcoming release 'Lost Boys'. Delbert Walsh a world famous, yet alcoholic ex-detective is on the hunt for a serial killer in 1970's Liverpool. I'm happily married and have two fabulous daughters and quite simply the coolest cat in the land - Snoz! Hope you like the book, if you do please spread the word.

Through snatched messages as he is trying to evade capture, he enlists her help. Her father tells her to trust her intuition and believe in herself. Imelda discovers she has magical powers like her father.

Together they hatch a plan the world is in danger, they have no guarantee of survival; but bravely the carry on. Imelda is assisted by an unlikely collection of new friends. Knowing that her father needs her help desperately but unsure of her limitations; she delves into a world she never knew existed. Will they be in time to stop the evil plans afoot or will their plan fail?

This is a delightful book as it also portrays the close relationship between a father and his daughter. I dare you not to fall in love with the character Imelda.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very imaginative and enjoyable., 26 Jun 2012
Format:Paperback
I thoroughly enjoyed this flight of fantasy, able to empathise with a young girl who feels 'different'. The storyline is intriguing and carries you along so you need to keep reading to know more - what sets Imelda apart from other ten year olds? How can her father simply vanish from the face of the earth? A gift from a most unexpected visitor provides more questions than answers - and yet again the reader wants to read on to discover what happens next. It's fun to discover an original voice, Mackenzie Brown certainly knows how to tell a story, his imagination is without bounds. Anyone who enjoys fantasy will love this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner! 25 Jun 2012
Format:Paperback
Mackenzie Brown is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. He has another winning book on his hands. The Book of Souls is a story about Imelda and the secret she and her father share. A secret of hidden powers that have been passed down through the generations. One night Edward, Imelda's father, disappears under strange circumstances. Imelda starts to look for him by following her instincts like he taught her. She finds him in all places, an old well. Every night at midnight she goes to talk to him, trying to help him get back home. Then he disappears all together. This a story of a daughter trying desperately to save her father's life, as well as her own. But the danger for them and others is fierce. Janus, a lizard like creature is out to kill them and their world. It's a little Alice Through the Looking Glass meets Harry Potter meets The Lord of The Rings. You will meet Merlin, Gulliver, a werewolf like man named Bek and a load of others. There is sorcery, magic, bravery, and just good old brains and common sense used. It's intrigue starts from the first page to the last. Loved, loved, loved this book. Do yourself a favor and read The Book of Souls. You won't be disappointed.
