An intriguing volume of tales apparently deriving from Native American mythology. We are told that the original text has been transcribed by a team of volunteers and they have done a great job; the formatting is excellent and easy to read (unlike many similar efforts one finds) and there were no glaring typos although admittedly I did skim read quite a bit of it. The stories themselves are quite amusing and give an interesting cultural insight. Good work.

Found this book a delightful entertaining read. Short stories, well written and quite amusing.
Two days prior to starting to read I had noticed a Magpies nest in a tall tree in our garden and remarked that it looked a complete mess. Imagine my delight to find a story in the book explaining why Magpies make such terrible nests. NO I AM NOT GOING TO REVEAL THE ANSWER..................you will have to read this book to find out !!!! Lovely gift for an adult or a child. Well worth getting it.

Great short tales from antiquity gathered from all over the world, incl Japan, Native American Indian, Asia & even the classical world of the Mediterian ancient cultures. Of particular interest to anybody who enjoys native american history or cultural / creationist mythology. A great relaxing read for both children and adults alike. Anyone who has enjoyed the like of Ɔsops fables or tales of Cuhullan & the Fienians of Erin ( or any work in a familar vein ) will thoroughly enjoy this book. Translation into modern english is excellent (better than others I've encountered previously). Would've been nice if author/editor had plainly stated the culture each myth had originated from. Reader is left with the feeling that this is not essentily penned for academics, despite an exhaustive list of 'nouns' at end.
Overall highly enjoyable and entertaining wee book! Am sure persons of any age, interest or background will find quite a few gems within the pages of this collection.
