Book Description
Mylor has its back to the land and its feet in the sea. Farming and fishing have always played a central part in its history. In the fifth century a religious site was founded at the mouth of the creek where the church of St Mylor now stands amidst ancient yews overlooking the open waters of Carrick Road and surrounded by Mylor Churchtown. In the nineteenth century Mylor began to grow due to the arrival of the Naval Dockyard, and the twentieth century saw considerable expansion. Today Mylor is a friendly, desirable place to live, with many amenities and, most valued of all, a wonderful community spirit.
This is another book in the Halsgrove Parish History series, reminding us of the people and events that have made our communities what they are today - celebrating the past and providing a stepping stone to the future.
