A Must Read for Classics Lovers Including the Bible 25 July 2007
By Frances Assa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Josipovici very successfully tries to understand how we may read the Bible as literature, and what we lose when we read it as a religious text only. His book is a must read for anyone who thinks they know the Hebrew Bible or the New Testaments, or the epic poetry of the middle east and Greece. His analysis is far reaching, literary, philosophic, and historical while giving us a good read.

The Book of God 28 Aug 2006
By cortezhill - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Is the Bible one book or a collection of writings? If it is a book, does it stand as a coherent piece of literature? In this beautifully written book Gabriel Josipovici answers these questions, drawing on his deep knowledge and appreciation of midieval and modern art and literature and on his personal understanding of the possibilities of narrative. His close textual analysis of the Bible not only lifts literary-biblical criticism to a new level but also makes the Bible accessible to our secular age.
