Product Description

Review

"'The greatest importance of Enoch is that it was not only a pre-Christian book, but also a post-Christian book, a text from their Jewish background kept and used by the earliest churches. When we use Enoch as a 'context' for the New Testament, many early Christian ideas come into a much clearer focus, and many of the gaps in the New Testament can be bridged.' From The Lost Prophet: The Book of Enoch and its Influence on Christianity by Margaret Barker"

Product Description

The Book of Enoch (also 1 Enoch) is an ancient Jewish religious work, traditionally ascribed to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah. It is not part of the biblical canon as used by Jews, apart from Beta Israel. It is regarded as canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, but no other Christian group.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clearly Not Inspired 22 Jun 2014
By Eddie D. Moore - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I know that the book of Enoch is considered scripture in Ethiopia but there was a few things that clearly ran contrary to Genesis and basic church doctrine. However, it held some interesting thoughts on how the angels, who took human wives, increased man's wickedness. The middle was a bit dry dealing with the travels of the sun and moon but the last few chapters were much better.
5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritually enlightening. 4 Jun 2014

This book fills in many gaps about the lifestyle of mankind before the flood in particular, which is not covered in any detail in the Book of Geneses. It is a must read for persons or Biblical scholars who want a deeper and fuller understanding of why mankind sinned, the source of his considerable knowledge of both good and evil, why evil still abounds in the world and how God intends that man should repent and be reconciled to him.......and more!
4.0 out of 5 stars Fills some gaps in the overall story 4 Jun 2014
By Glen White - Published on Amazon.com

I found the book easy to read and understand. It helped answer some questions I had after reading Genesis. There is very little in the Bible about Enoch. He was apparently someone very significant, since there is no comment about his death as with the other patriarchs..
5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive edition. 18 April 2014

This appears to be a rather comprehensive edition of the Book of Enoch. And the Kindle edition is the quickest delivery system.
4.0 out of 5 stars Enoch -- no wonder it is not in the Old Testament 6 Mar 2014
By Ricardo Fuentes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Interesting and vivid description of the Fall of the Angels. Unbelievably detailed visions ... makes you wonder if Enoch discovered peyote before the Southwest Native Americans. Gives context to the fiction books of John Connolly.
