6 of 6 people found the following review helpful By Peter. J. Morris on 18 Nov. 2014
Format: Paperback
In his book 'The Book if Celtic Magic' magickian and Druid Kristoffer Hughes reveals the core features of a magickal system that breathes in and out of the landscape of the British Isles.

His book reveals the basic tenets of the Celtic belief system - its gods and goddesses, and features its primary archetype, Awen and her cauldron. As it turns out her story is a powerful transformative adventure through which the reader is guided with mythological legends and practical workings.

Later on the author includes information on Ogam - a powerful divination system and a unique way of using Ogam staves which places the system in a more contemporary context, Plant Magick as well as information on how to craft your own wand from source.

The book is warmly and engaging well-written. The magickal journey that it takes its reader along is as much to do with the relationship to its author as a guide as it is to the system or the land that holds its many secrets in stone even to this day.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable read which magickians, Wiccans and Pagans of all flavours will heartily enjoy and gain some invaluable esoteric insight from.

Wonderful to find a book on Celtic magic that focuses on Welsh rather than Irish traditions, as Wales is of far more interest to me than Ireland, personally. Well-written and accessible without being fluffy. Haven't finished it yet as I'm pausing to do the exercises but I'm confident that I'll love the rest as much as what I've read so far.
