This 1992 crowd pleaser made almost as much money for Whitney Houston as its chart-busting soundtrack. A high-wattage star vehicle as only Hollywood can make, The Bodyguard stars Houston as a pop-music diva (now there's a stretch) and Kevin Costner as the stern bodyguard who is assigned to protect her after the singer receives some nasty death threats. Pop star and bodyguard don't hit it off at first, but they wear down each others' defenses, and before long Houston is baring her tonsils with a rousing rendition of the Dolly Parton chestnut "I Will Always Love You." The film, written by Lawrence Kasden, was originally intended for Steve McQueen, but the script languished for years before Houston took an interest in the project. Product Description
Kevin Costner plays former CIA agent Frank Farmer, now retired and working as a private bodyguard. He takes on the case of singer Rachel Marron (Whitney Houston), who has received several death threats. Initially reluctant to take on his ideas about security, Rachel gradually begins to warm to Frank, who begins to suspect the pop star's would-be assassin lurks amongst her entourage.

This film is great. You've got the beautiful Whitney at the start, not being that bothered about hiring anyone, but upon seeing Kostner's character.........BOOM! The love then starts 'infecting her' as time goes by. For anyone that likes a love story, DEFINITELY buy this. The drama and suspense of wondering who the stalker is, is great. It keeps leading you on all the time. Then you've also got the sister of Whitney's character who fancies Kostner's character as well. All in all it's a great film to see. I've tried to give as much information as I could without spoiling it for anyone. Enjoy the film if you buy it.

I love this movie. Kevin Costner gives a winning, convincing performance as the bodyguard of a spoilt, high maintainance singer. Whitney Housten is a brilliant co star of this movie making it convincing at all times. The plot is great, the movie moves at a nice pace with never a dull moment and the technicality of seeing what bodyguards are actually trained to do is awesome. Go and buy it, it's a great way to while away a couple of hours and you'll find yourself watching it over and over again.

Whitney Houston's first (and last?) film outing is a pretty good attempt. But Kevin Costner really makes this film come alive. He is extremely covincing as the Bodyguard, and adds wonderful touches of humour as he goes along (I especially love the fight with Tony in the kitchen, during which neither of them utters a word, but Kev comes out on top, and is finished with him saying "I don't wanna talk about this again"! ). There are some parts that are a little black, and some parts that are rather far-fetched (like the weird fanatic's blonde hair - what's with that! ) but this manages to be both a romantic and an action film very well. Whitney's hit song didn't do too badly from the film either!

Excellent Film
Film arrived in the post early, love the film and good quality product. Anyone who loves this film should buy this as it was cheap to buy and not scene in the shops.

Wasted money
This item froze quarter of the way through, on using forward buttons it then played Japanese film with no sound. It returned to the proper film close to the end. Read more
