The Blue Bedroom is the highlight of this collection of delightful short stories, and features 14 year old Emily trying to come to terms with both her mother's death and her father's remarriage. As with all Rosamunde Pilcher's books, one is spellbound from the first page, empathising with all her characters.

I thought I'd read all of Rosamunde Pilcher's books and have started re-reading the ones I have. I bought this book and several others by RP for my niece because I'm confident she'll enjoy them too. Next, I'm going to seek out RP's early works and if they're half as good as this they'll be well worth the effort.

A Collection of Rosamunde Pilcher's Best! 25 Jun 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This collection of short stories is one of my favorites. I have the original hard cover edition (I picked it up for 25 cents at our local library many years ago) and I wouldn't think of parting with it. This is the book I go back to whenever I want a quick but satisfying read or just need to feel "cozy and comfortable". I agree that these stories don't have the depth of Ms. Pilcher's novels, they are still pure Pilcher, with situations and characters with whom the reader can relate. Stories such as "Home for the Day", "Christmas with Miss Cameron" and "An Evening to Remember" will enchant the reader time and time again.

A great read. 28 Mar 2000

This is a collection of short stories. While the stories do not have the depth that her longer novels have the stories are quick to read and are great portraits of life and love.

Rosamunde Pilcher Magic. 5 Dec 2007
By England's own. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
All the stories are good but, "Home for the Day" is the best. When the husband expresses his thoughts at the end it is beautiful. "Because you are my life. The mother of my children, the heart of my house......And I love you." I first read this book years ago. I have read it many times since. Each story is special. I have a copy of this book. The one I just bought is for a gift. I wanted to share it with someone who might also see the beauty I see. I recommend this book highly.
