You can enjoy the most famous and beautiful opera and ballet performances in your home in perfect picture and clear sound. Magic Flute may be the best example for this. The detailed picture is amazing and the depth and clarity of the artist's voice is awe-inspiring. There is no debate in buying this blu-ray even though you are not that into opera or ballet.

At least from a distance in an auditorium you don't get to experience the absolute exertion that the performance place upon the players. The detail is so good you can count the sweat beads dropping off some of the singers in this amazing Blue-Ray demonstration DVD. It's essentially a sampler but Sophie Von Otter's performance singing the Carmen theme is worth the price of the DVD alone. The Magic Flute would also be a favorite. Hard to fault the quality of this disc. Writing, almost like being there, is a cliche, but with a good audio set-up, it's damned close to the real thing. For the price, it's a no brainer, buy it, you might even find you have an interest in Opera that you never knew about by the time you finished with the disc.

Meant to be a showpiece of what is available on operatic and ballet Opus Arte BDs, I find this a mixed success and it did not entice me to buy the originals (although I have bought many, more inspite of, than because of, this disc).
However it is inexpensive so is worth the few dollars asked but I doubt if it would persuade anyone who is not interested in the genre to suddenly collect opera and ballet BDs.
That said it does illustrate the effectiveness of BD for showing opera and ballet and does include the brilliant (both technically and artistically) "Queen of the Night" aria from Mozart's "magic Flute" so the disc is worth the cost for this item alone.
However it is inexpensive so is worth the few dollars asked but I doubt if it would persuade anyone who is not interested in the genre to suddenly collect opera and ballet BDs.

At this price it is a bargain. The content is varied and the quality is good even if the exerpts are a little short.
