This book along with "Ultrametabolism" has changed my life. I'm 20lbs lighter, fitter, and healthier after using the tools that Dr. Hyman provide. I've given up 'the white menace' entirely (6 months strong!) and feel better than I have in years (I'm pushing 40). My body functions better, I sleep well, I'm not bloated, and best of all, my processed starchy white foods cravings are gone. A nice bowl of cut fruit is now my sugar. I couldn't be happier with Dr. Hyman and the science. I strongly urge you to read this, and any one of his books, if you're not at optimal health and/or you feel sluggish and stuck in a food rut. Americans tend to eat so much 'non-food' food. WHOLE, fresh, real, unprocessed food is the key to living a long healthy life and with this I couldn't agree more!

This book was bought on Amazon. It is an amazing book - a real eye opener about what we should eat to live a quality life.It is simple to follow with examples. Trying is believing. There are foods which we thought were good for us but this book puts everything in perspective. Worth buying!

What a great book. For years I was struggling with my sweet tooth, afternoon energy slumps, fatigue and endless cravings. Recently I decided enough was enough. I saw a write up about this book in the national press, was intrigued so decided to buy it. I did a week long prep to get used to the idea of going on the blood sugar solution 'diet' because I expected it would be hard to stick to it. To my surprise it was not.

I cut out all sugar, wheat and dairy and stocked on supplements and followed the eating plan as prescribed. To my surprise from day one my cravings disappeared, I now have more energy, no more afternoon slumps, I'm never hungry and generally feel great. And I'm only two weeks into this. The recipes are so delicious, I am so pleased I have found this book. I am not diabetic by the way, but was heading that way. The only drawback is the fact that the supplements are expensive and of course all this fresh healthy food is too. And having to cook every day but surprisingly it does not take too much time with a bit of practice. But the benefits are amazing. I never write reviews but had to share this.

A lot of what Hyman has to say makes perfect sense and I'm sure he is sincere in his research and beliefs but some of what he says comes across as flim flam. Is he science first or agenda first?

He's perhaps a bit too strident and repetitive. I almost stopped reading because the introduction seemed to just say the same thing over and over; he's a bit too fond of ramming his message home. By the end of the book I felt browbeaten and his recipes and meal plans seemed a bit outre.

That said, I have substantially followed his advice to cut carbs and get my calories from protein and vegetables so something got through. My advice to readers feeling like putting the book down because you feel nagged is to hang in there because I do feel better for following his advice and I am losing weight.

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to finally understand why the food they eat - even though they seem healthy - is not delivering the correct message to the hormones of their body to lose weight.
I am enjoying seeing the pounds drop off me effortlessly as I eat nutritious meals.

This man's books and knowledge are so helpful. Yes, they are a little exaggerated and american but the content is good and well worth a read. He has some great facts and information that even the most health conscious of us may not know. I have tried this and it works. I started to feel a benefit within two weeks

I'm a doctor suffering from type 2 diabetes. I have been on oraledication for controlling my diabetes. I'm obese as well. So far it has been very tricky to manage my blood sugars. As I tried to have a tight control I was prone to have hypoglycemia and every time my blood sugars will drop I had to take something sweet to recover and I always ended up having ore than what I needed so result was a big rise in my levels. I was exercising but non of my exercise sessions went without an episode of hypoglycemia and eventually sweet intake and so on. I had to carry something sweet with me all the time just in case. I was anxious, had extreme sweet craving so much so that without realisation I was having sweets all day and my love for sweets was becoming an addiction because I was becoming an addict to my cravings. Now this book has totally changed my life. I haven't started to follow it 100% which I could not due to multiple reasons but I in tend to as soon as possible and I would recommend others to do as well. I have incorporated all the principles in my diet and am sticking to most of the ingredients and supplements recommended by Dr. Hyman in this book. I have started exercising too. I came off my diabetes medication straight away, I haven't had any episode of hypoglycemia since. I feel great , my focus is on getting healthy and managing my diabetes and as he says I'm loosing weight as a side effect, so far I have lost 7 pounds in 4 weeks. It's a bonus because I'm eating good quality food without being hungry.
I would recommend you to buy this book if you really want to change your life and defeat diabetes, obesity, belly fat, poly cystic ovaries and sweet cravings.
