The body of a French banker lies under a train on the London Underground: the first of three of three ‘banking suicides.’ A tragic result of the economic downturn.

Former tabloid reporter, turned blogger, Danny Lightfoot needs a story. And something about the tube death doesn’t add up… When a second banker takes his life, then a third, he’s certain of wrongdoing.

In a race to reveal the truth, Lightfoot uncovers a laundered money trail that leads, via Hong Kong and the world’s largest online criminal cartel, to the heart of British government: Number Ten Downing Street – and a man who will stop at nothing to achieve the power he craves.

But with a hired killer watching his every move, can Lightfoot banish his demons and face down the evil that threatens his life?

5.0 out of 5 stars Proper page-turner 2 May 2012

So I bought this on a whim on the kindle and for a quid had a great time. The book is a well-written, lean thriller with a young embittered journo as the hero and the financial crisis as the backdrop. The mix of well-researched police detective skills and financial commentary blend well and do not feel clunky. The characters have room to breathe with the avuncular transport copper being perhaps the most compelling.

I read this book in 2 days and enjoyed it more than the last John Grisham I read. Isn't it amazing what you can find on the kindle...

5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping thriller 30 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great first novel by David Prever. It is tightly plotted and meticulously researched, and a real page turner - I could easily see this transferred to the small or big screen. The characters are believable and well drawn and there is an atmosphere of danger and suspense throughout. I really look forward to future novels. Highly recommended.

Having read this book, I can only say that in my opinion it is quite special.
The quality of the storyline is as good as some of the worlds best authors.

I would therefore highly recommend this to anyone.

A good standard thriller, set around the recent financial crash. Nothing really exceptional, but it is still a good read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sow, slow, slow
This is a slow-paced book, with few, if any, redeeming features. The language and literary style fail to draw one in as a book should.
