4.0 out of 5 stars almost a perfect shamble 6 Dec 2006
Format:Audio CD
BLINDING: great catchy tune with some interesting lyrics and gritty guitar. (one of my favorites)

LOVE YOU BUT YOUR GREEN: This ones been knocking about as an acoustic number since the early days of the libertines. I think pete has done it justice with babyshambles.

I WISH: DIffiatly the best best track on the EP, instantly catchy and enjoyable to listen to. cheers me up, even though some of the lyrics are very dark. "i wish to god i'd just been stabbed"

BEG,STEAL AND BORROW: Heard this one on johnathan ross a while ago. i actually think the acoustic version is slightly better, but still a nice little tune.

SEDATIVE: Uplifting chorus, although pete lyrics are slurred and almost uncomprihenible it sort of adds substance to the track.

All in all a great EP by babyshambles. Best thing Pete has done as of recent, think hes trying to show the world hes not just a junkie waste of space and can actually produce sparks of genious when he wants to. I was slightly dissappointed by Albion but this EP has really made me fall in love with his music all over again. Even Started putting on old libertines records!

4.0 out of 5 stars take notice- something different 5 Nov 2006
Format:Audio CD
I have been very lucky to hear the roughcut of sedative and all the rest finalised and I have to say, although I have always rated Peter, this is truly the best thing they've done in their career as babyshambles. Sedative is a raw, angry song about betrayal, and really shows the rage he feels due to certain people's actions. 'I love you..' has always been a fave of mine, and beg steal or borrow just highlights how important this boy is, regardless of anything he does to himself. It is a soft, gentle, sorrowful, yet hopeful tune aired on johnathan ross recently, and provokes tears of joy, i swear! 'I wish' is a total departure and shows the lads ska influences- it has sad lyrics yet is balanced with an upbeat sing-a-long style. Babyshambles have come into their own!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a little blinder 27 July 2007
Format:Audio CD
How good is this EP? Blinding.
The Blinding song is absolutely a raw mess, but under control. Also, the last track Sedative is a monster of a tune, devouring me and my whole family, but i broke free and listened to the EP again and again.
This Ep is a little peice of music gem for all Babyshambles, even Libertine fans too. It shows beyond a doubt that Doherty has gotten himself together and it firing on all creative cylinders.
He put thepipe down, and got that right sound. Ahmen, brother.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much To Admire 7 Jun 2014
By Keith M TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This five-song 2006 follow-up EP to the band’s sporadically brilliant debut album Down In Albion shows Doherty’s band in consistent form – clearer and crisper sound (though I’m not sure that’s the point for a Doherty band) and retaining a healthy level of diversity (much like the predecessor album). At the more 'conventional’ ('Libertines-like’) end of the musical spectrum are the title track opener, the most violent assault on the senses here, powerful riff and tight rhythm, whilst likewise, Beg, Steal Or Borrow gives us one of those unmistakeable opening Doherty guitar melodies (not quite in the league of the recent Nothing Comes To Nothing, but hey) – with a trademark bum note intro, plus a fantastically anarchic harmonica solo.

Elsewhere, Doherty mixes up the rhythm (as he has done quite successfully before on songs such as the recent reggae-inspired Dr No), trying his hand this time at ska on the lively and (mostly) infectious I Wish. Then, although the songs here are lyrically relatively uninteresting by Doherty standards, the man conjures up a nicely ironic take on the 'teen romance magazine’ generation in Love You But You’re Green ('I was a troubled teen who put an advert in a magazine to the annoyance of my imaginary lover’) to a nicely subtle background melody and some floating, idiosyncratic vocals, whilst the closing Sedative also provides a somewhat fresh take on the man’s infamy in a plea for remission in the form of the outdoors and the 'morning sun’, all to another infectious melody.

In the wake of last year’s stonking Sequel To The Prequel, The Blinding is another Babyshambles collection worth revisiting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every single song on this is standout ! 18 Nov 2010
Format:Audio CD
It is an EP so of course it will only have a few tracks but it kicks off with the title track. The Blinding - It is one of there best honestly what a way to kick off a small batch of songs. The creative input impresses me and a lot of time has been spent on these songs each individually calf's up it's own little magic. Pete is honestly on top form on this EP. But as the title track is defiantly one of my favorite songs honestly that song is worth it alone. I Love but your Green is a mellow song which really warms up the soul on a cold winters day the passion radiates from it. I wish is my favorite track at the moment full blast in the morning gets me ready for the day. Yet again the 3rd track in out of the 5 and you are honestly thinking can it get any better. This more of a reggae theme track but it don't stop Baby shambles doing what they do best. Write songs that stick in the mind all day and all the time. Beg,Steal or Borrow is a nice little number which if on a full 12 track album would be easily recognized as standout. A lot of effort has been put in by the boys honestly deserves a lot more credit than it's getting. Now for the final track which is many ways is most important as it leaves the final impressions for many people. And what an end to a EP honestly no other song could end such a amazing well thought out and creative bunch of songs this is in my top 10 of my best albums of all time honestly a classic in my eyes and should be for many years. The best EP I own and that's the truth and the beats my favorite bands EP it is that good. You are paying for standout tracks only so go and get a classic that you will rave on about for weeks.
