So it's xmas eve, although you'd never know that from the exterior shots as there isn't a single decoration or drunken hobo in a Santa suit anywhere in sight. Maybe they don't put up decorations in L.A.?
Anyway, there have been tremors hitting the city, unusual tremors in that only small objects that the camera is pointing at will topple over but glasses of wine on a table get by without a ripple. In addition to the tremors there are also problems with power outages, sorry, 'blackouts' that are occuring at the same time. Actually, is it still a blackout if the powers only off for 30 seconds?
Also, an interesting fact I've learned from watching this movie:you can still ride a bicycle during a tremor and be completely unaffected.
Anyway, a group of folks living in an apartment building (oh look, they have a xmas tree and a bit of tinsel so it must be the festive season) are getting a little concerned of the tremors, which are obviously getting worse as they are now sending ripples accross glasses of wine. Scientists are theorising that there may be a link between the tremors and the blackouts, so it's a good job they're around to impart their wisdom because I'm sure that nobody else figured that out.
During all this nonsense, creatures that don't like the light have emerged into the darkness of the now permanant blackout and begin to prey on all the squishy humans.
The problem is that the monsters look rubbish, the acting with maybe one exception is bad and the whole thing just isn't entertaining. Now before anyone complains, yes I know this is a low budget movie and we shouldn't expect too much, but surely we should be able to watch a movie and be entertained?
This movie just doesn't achieve that.
There is the odd glimmer with a couple of ok gore moments but otherwise this movie remains bland and uninteresting.
Don't be fooled by the 'Feast' style cover and steer clear of this one.
