I got this book when I was about 9. I am in my 20s now and I still read this book and others from the series quite regurlarly. It is a story that embraces you and you will remember. The way Walter Farley describes horses is magnificient. You can almost touch them as you read his books.

I loved this book as a teenager and I quite enjoyed re-reading it now as an adult. It's a real-life fairy-tale. No doubt that it will have a happy ending, but the tale is absorbing. If you're looking for a realistic story of a boy and his horse, look elsewhere. This is the "Disney" version, but none the less worth reading.

A horse lover's paradise, I first read this when I was around 10. The movie does not really do it justice, there's nothing better than an imagination to give pictures of what is happening.

Young boy and Stallion in shipwreck, both survive, the boy befriends the horse who starts of as being vicious and mean but somehow ends up allowing the boy to ride him!

High adventure, desert island, beautiful horse. I dreamed of this horse for ages.

First book in a series of around 13/14, reprinted several times, always enchants people.

A little Black Beauty esque but NOT from the horses point of view.

Quite a short story, but leaves you wanting more by the end of the book. Good job there are more in the series. Reminiscient of Elynne Mitchells Silver Brumby though that is also from the horses point of view and he is never captured.

Great book !
