Product Description

Will Hay plays Professor Davis, the intrepid head of a correspondence college, in this wartime comedy. Davis gets wind of the fact that a Nazi spy has infiltrated an economic delegation with the intent of undermining attempts to reach a trade agreement between Great Britain and certain South American countries. The effort to expose the dastardly fellow sees Hay adopt various disguises in a steady onslaught of mistaken-identity comedy.

Synopsis

A professor discovers a Nazi agent, posing as an economics expert, who is trying to prevent a trade treaty being signed between England and South America.

5.0 out of 5 stars An utter joy. 16 April 2002
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
This film is a joy from begginning to end. The attepts to rescue a kidnapped scientist never fail to be funny. Will Hay's perfomance as the incompetent head of a correspondence college who gets drawn into the plot is wonderful and John Mills gives great support. This is a film that anybody can enjoy, the humour appeals to all age groups and despite the age of the film it never seems stale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Hay, What Else Need I Say 19 May 2012

Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Not everything Will Hay did was brilliant, just nearly everything. This though is well worth having. There is the usual double talk as you'd expect but there are some great disguises in this and it is a really good caper. John mills plays adequately alongside but isn't meant to shine. I didn't go much on The Goose Steps Out but that is the only one that I haven't liked so far really. Good film, not a classic perhaps, but good all the same.

4.0 out of 5 stars one of will hay's best from latter part of career. 24 April 2012
Format:DVD
i don't think "the black sheep of whitehall" has been given the credit it deserves. will hay may not have been lucky enough to work alongside his former co-stars from the good old days but he is still well supported in this film by the likes of john mills.
the story is one of the funniest i have seen and the highlight for me, is when hay goes undercover as a nurse at the hospital where the kidnap victim is being held! hay's timing is as impeccable as ever.
considering the age of the footage, the picture and sound of this dvd is very good. one thing to be grateful for, is that "the black sheep of whitehall" hasn't been subjected to any silly editing, unlike "the goose steps out."
