Book Description

DCI Allison St Clair has cheated death- but only just.
She is weakened and desperately needs rest. But something calls to her from ancient Cornwall where a sickening wave of bizarre murders has local police well out of their depth. The problem is, they just don't know it.
She has been sent on compulsory leave to recuperate from her recent ordeals, but she cannot rest. She must somehow halt the killing spree. But how? A London-based Detective Chief Inspector no matter how talented, has no jurisdiction in Cornwall.
Revelations from Cornwall's deep past are uncovered during the Midsummer Golowan Festival- a gathering whose primeval rituals and bonfires have been badly misunderstood. Human frailty has opened the door for the insidious Mister Black and a new, elemental force to choke-off our one hope for the future. Only Allie St Clair and the magnificent Michael could stand in their way, but time is the enemy. In a furious twenty-four hours, all will be saved or irrevocably lost. The Game has taken a new, deadly twist and this time, on a mountain floating on a black sea, the future of humanity will be decided.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous! 4 April 2015
Format:Kindle Edition
Loved it as I knew I would. The series gets better with each book and this time brings out the glory of Cornwall and some myths that surround it.

Yes, it is for entertainment, for that is why I read and though some may argue the rights and wrongs of history versus imagination with this story, maybe they forget that an author's job is to test both.

Whether you believe the reality of the story does not matter but allowing your mind to accept the possibility of fantastical things means the author has done a good job making you think.

Yes this is a fantasy but it is written so well as to make you believe 'maybe?' and that, for me, makes a great book.

I highly recommend this whole series to those with open minds and a thirst to question and an imagination for the impossible to be possible.

The story line is unbelievable and unfortunately the author appears to know little about the Cornish people claiming such things as they changed the Celtic place names when in fact this was done by the immigration of English people to the country over the last few centuries who wanted to anglisise Cornwall and shows the Cornish as being ignorant peasants where in fact the world would not exist as it is today but for Cornish inventions such as the high pressure steam engine, the automobile and railway engines not to mention mining safety lamps which revolutionised the industry.

I do enjoy these books but do find them a little samey to be honest, I would still read another, but would sort of like more detective work with a twist rather than this one where she isn't actually on duty and its all about the paranormal.

Took me a little while to get into it, but it was hard to put down when I did. I would like Allie and Michael to have more adventures.
