Product Description

Product Description

The most dangerous form of magic on Touched – a world where those born with magic wield political power – is necromancy, the art of drawing magical power from the act of murder. It has long been banned and rightfully so, yet the ambitious and power-hungry Duke Herod – intent on placing his posterior upon the Golden Throne – has resurrected the art, planning to use it to destroy the Royal Family and take the Throne for himself.

On the eve of their wedding, Prince Eric and Mistress Hind are forced to flee the Palace as Herod’s forces launch a coup against the Emperor. As they make their way to the only safety left in a world touched by necromancy and darkest magic, they are pursued by Herod’s men, while behind them Herod sinks further into madness. If the necromancer cannot be stopped, the entire world is in terrible danger…

…And may be destroyed.

Chris is currently living in Borneo with his partner, muse, and critic Aisha.

This was a great book.
I loved the world, there is a lot that could be explored in further books.
Put me down as someone who would like to read a sequel. In the mean time i'm looking forward to trying some of the authors other books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid read 1 Jun 2013
By Seeker - Published on Amazon.com

As with a number of Mr. Nuttall's books, the editing isn't the best in the world but the world is well made and interesting. Most of the world knowledge is in the afterword but enough comes through in the story to have a good idea of how it works. The character's aren't flat but aren't particularly deep either. All in all, this is a good read for a dreary afternoon and evening and doesn't have a commitment to time that a series would have. The end of the story is wrapped up quickly and without a lot of extras thrown in. Just a short clear wrap up of the story. I recommend this book for light fantasy readers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs proofreader. 30 Mar 2013

Good story. Needs a proofreader.

Many many homophone and tense issues. Otherwise 4 stars.

Will enjoy reading the sequel, if it's proofed first.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining but not engrossing 6 Mar 2013

I am reading all of Nutall's books. They are generally good reads and some are really pretty good. This one has some dreary spots and some action sequences are not up to par. The latter is surprising given the great action sequences in some of his space opera books.

Still, it is certainly worth the low price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Fantasy 25 Nov 2012
By Elliott - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Chris Nuttall has created a really good fantasy world. It all holds together. Much as I generally dislike books that feature zombies, I think this one works very well. The story moves quickly, the characters are well constructed, although the best characterization is of the semi-villain Reginald and his change from full villainy to eventual hero.

I think most people who buy this book will enjoy it.
