Biography

Tearing through the speakers like a swamp monster summoned from some dark cosmic morass, Texas riffmasters Wo Fat unapologetically blast out a southern fried, blues-infused version of Psychedelic Doom, conjuring up visions of hoodoo shacks, prowling undead, hell hounds at the crossroads, Lovecraftian cultists and ghouls, and worlds beyond where the riff reigns almighty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riff-O-Rama 22 Nov 2013
Format:Audio CD
Sounding like the unholy union of Tres Hombres era ZZ Top and Volume 4 Sabbath Wo Fat are true riffologists. While I have yet to find a Wo Fat album that I didn't love "The Black Code" is nothing short of amazing. I could "almost" offer any potential purchasers a money back guarantee so confident am I of your impending listening pleasure. A mention also for the Wo's record label Small Stone Records who again have released another quality rock epic. Opening track Lost Highway is such a slice of riffing brilliance you will not believe that you have not heard the track before on some 70's heavy rock radio show. RIGHT ! stop reading about the thing and get it in your basket.

4.0 out of 5 stars Badass stoner rock 7 July 2013
By Effon
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Took a chance on these guys mostly because I liked the artwork so much.
If you like no nonsense stoner rock full of excellent riffs (its really consistant) then get this. Production, performances and songs are all great.
Its pretty full on most of the time (but not fatigueing) so I would have like to have heard a bit more dynamics buts its a small complaint on a great album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sci-fi psych doom fuzz blues 13 Nov 2012
By strongernow - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The title of this review speaks for itself, really. Five smokin' cuts with three songs over the ten minute mark make for a record ideal for uninterrupted listening. Fans of The Sword, Monster Magnet, Red Fang, Graveyard, High On Fire, and the like will warm to this one quickly. Another stunner from Small Stone.

I'm a huge fan of bands like Sleep, Red Fang, Kadaver, and Orange Goblin. The full throated rock with plenty of monster fuzz from Worst is right up there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my cup of LSD 2 Mar 2014
By D.E. Heeren - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a band advertised as "Stoner, Sludge, Doom", ect. ect. ect. Somehow the music may fit into one of those groups but all I could really hear on this recording were the southern influenced slide guitar and blues scales. I despise blues music and southern rock, too redneck and uncivilized sounding to my ear, a distant cousin to country music which I also despise. If you want Electric Wizard, Sleep, Fu Manchu, Nebula or Solarized sounding music, you won't find it here.
