The Bitter End is just over three venomous minutes of all the fury, anguish, hatred and hurt that comes with the break up of a relationship.
The song is built upon an amazing and memorable hook that i just can't get out of my head, the instrumentals sound different from previous Placebo, which have always sounded a bit like Sonic Youth, more metallic somehow, but i still love it.
The Bitter End is angry, fast, rough and energetic, yet simultaneously heartbreaking and beautiful, and bursting with infectious melody. Brian Molko's voice is mature, and as haunting and full of feeling as it ever was. As usual Placebo are delving into the deepest, darkest recesses of raw human emotion and they've got it just right.
This song can make you dance and cry at the same time, because although the tune is bouncy and lively, the vocals are brimming with genuine pain, anger and bitterness, especially on the line 'see you at the bitter end'.
I've been waiting impatiently for Placebo's return for a long time and it's definitely worth the wait, it's everything i thought it would be and more. I hope you've got your tickets to their show, I've got mine, it's gonna be big.
