I LOVE this book, I have several by the same authors and love them all. This makes me want more birthdays for all the children so I have more excuses to do these things! These are not modern, expensive, flashy ideas ... but lovely suggestions on how to really create a special day in a more simple and personal way, creating wonderful bonds and memories.

I have 4 children, the oldest is 5 and a half, the two youngest are 15 months old. We have had several parties (smaller and bigger happenings) here, but somehow it was never exactly as great as I wanted. Something was always missing.
This book helped me understand the importance of a bithday (not just the party, but the celebration) for a child. It gives great background info about the origin of these celebrations, plus the emotional impotance. Oh, and NOT only for children's bithdays!!! There are great ideas for ALL AGES!
It is very detailed, from A to Z, how organize a celebration (any kind and for any age).
Great ideas for presents (both celebrated person and guests), party types, preparation, activites, games, crafts, food and decoration. Many of these are great resource for other occasions, celebrations, not only for bithdays.
It is NOT a "waldorf book", I recommend it to anyone!

A wonderful book

I am a homeschooling mother of 6, and tend to lean toward Waldorf education..even if I wasn't homeschooling, this book would be on my shelf. I've read many season/tradition books, yet this book still gave me a variety of new ideas and inspiration. Lots of fun stuff, and no need to use just for birthdays.

I think the book is fine, nothing great about it, lots of information I think anyone can know by know, some crafts ideas are good but thats it.
