5.0 out of 5 stars A must for Billy fans 7 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
Billy Liar and Billy Liar on the Moon are two pieces of British culture that people can enjoy even now, the themes of fantasy and boredom with an average life can be understood by any generation. For those that like the comedy style of Keith Waterhouse this is the Holy Grail as it spurned many spin offs and variations. I have just performed as Liz in a local production of Billy Liar so maybe I'm biased! Some people argue the sequel is not as good but I actually enjoyed it more and it surprised me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely written period piece 12 April 2014
By hfffoman TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
One of those rare books which almost anyone would enjoy. It is about a young man who has the intelligence to see through, but not the means to escape, the depressed Yorkshire town he lives in. It is a light read, well written, funny and serious. The characters and the 1950s period lifestyle feel authentic and accurate.

4.0 out of 5 stars neither micklin nor a mucklin 17 Feb 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
billy liar is a fantastic piece of literature, and you can see why it was made into a film, full of that 60s northern sarcasm. The sequal is nowhere near as good i'm afraid, as might have been expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars funny funny funny 21 Aug 2013
By Terence Marriott - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
the follow up to Billy Liar is funnier than the original. Billy's grown up with a wife and mistress and gets into all sorts of hilarious sutuations. Dialogue is screamingly funny. Hard to get now, but worth it!
