A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW 4.5 Stars | Reviewed by: Millarda
I really liked this book and it is a keeper. It exhibits the dilemma of letting go of what you know and embracing the opportunity for love and happiness. It is very well written and constructed. The characters mature nicely throughout this book. You can easily visualize what you are reading.
The dialogue is easy to understand. There is a lot of tension and conflict between Lucas and Amy. Lucas’ father wanted his son to find happiness and love. Lucas wasn’t ready for any type of change in his life. Lucas liked living with no attachments and wanted to keep it that way, little did he know his father already had other plans. He knew he wanted grandchildren while he could still play with them. If that was going to happen he had to do something.

Joseph Anderson has decided it's time for his three successful sons to find brides. Joseph wants grandchildren to fill his mansion, and he wants them immediately. His eldest son, Lucas, is successful in all areas of his life, except love, and Joseph begins matchmaking. He finds Amy Harper and deems her the perfect daughter-in-law. He just needs to get her and Lucas to both realize they're made for each other.

Lucas Anderson is wealthy, sexy, and stubborn. He has no desire to have any woman enter his life, causing chaos, or using his family's name. Many women have tried, and he's been successful in finding out who they are beneath their false smiles.

Amy Harper was raised in tragic circumstances and doesn't like pampered, rich men who have been handed everything with a silver spoon. She spent years finishing her education and then received a job with the Anderson Corporation. She instantly doesn't like her incredibly sexy boss, who is arrogant and thinks every woman should fall at his feet.

When Amy becomes pregnant after one reckless night of passion, she's scared he'll take the baby and run. Lucas is demanding, and used to getting his way, but Amy has just the right amount of spark to ignite his fuse, and challenges him each step of the way.

Lucas's father, Joseph, and his brothers Alex and Mark, offer laughter, love, and support. With the love of Lucas's family, who aren't only rich and successful, but also kind and giving, Amy starts to realize that being wealthy doesn't make or break a man, and starts to picture the happily ever after she never believed in for herself.

More About the Author

Melody has had a passion for writing since she was a little girl. Her first book was written at around the age of ten, and it was about a handsome prince Charming rescuing his princess and taking her away to his castle to live happily ever after. She continued to write through her teenage years, but never with the expectation to ever publish anything. Around 2007 Melody realized that she had finished her first full manuscript, and looked at it in awe. She had around a hundred books started on her computer, but had never finished one before. She was so ecstatic about her accomplishment that she jumped in to work on another book. She finished five books in a three year period, and then started thinking about possibly publishing those books.
Melody did a lot of research and discovered how to get her books published, and has been in author's bliss since then. She is thrilled by the success of her books, since she loves her characters so much, and wants the world to feel the same way. She is constantly working on new materials, and feels like the sky is the limit. Her family helps come up with many ideas, and her friends are a constant help. She hopes you love her books as much as she loves writing them.
Melody has two amazing children, along with about five additional kids that she adores like her own kids, that keep her busy all the time with school events, and sporting schedules, a husband who has become a pretty great cook since she is planted in front of her computer all the time, and two puppies, who help her writing by making sure to keep her lap or feet warm. Family is always first in her life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great series of books 24 Feb 2013

I'm not one for leaving reviews, but felt the need to share my thoughts. These books are a must have if you like romantic novels. All 6 (or was it 7) books in the series had me glued to my Kindle. Excellent reads.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Brilliant! 21 Feb 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I absolutely loved this book. Loved everything about it: the characters, the storyline, the ending...all of it! I found it so good that I struggled to put it down and re-read certain parts as they were just fab! Not too much sex and not explicit sex, just good old fashioned romance. Looking forward to downloading book 2 tomorrow, but tonight, I must do some work!

....from just the sneak peek just before the prologue, which did additionally contain more incorrectly used homophones (later e.g. site/sight, there/their, etc.)...and there were more punctuation and grammatical errors in the prologue...and in the rest of the tale. This was rather distracting and spoilt the tale for me, as I found myself homing in on errors, not the tale.

Amazon's blurb tells you exactly what happens for the most, so I won't, but I didn't love this book for several reasons:

Firstly, the author used too much formal speech, making conversations stilted and unrealistic, which was all the more evident because at times she did use colloquial, i.e. normal, everyday spoken words and the contrast was glaring.

Secondly, the male lead, Lucas, was not an Alpha with the kind of innate arrogance that Alphas can get away with, no, he was plain rude and seemingly badly brought-up. Almost as if his wealth made him above the law and able to say and do what he wanted, consequences be damned. In fact, he was a bit of a prig, with pronouncements such as I GREATLY FROWN UPON OFFICE ROMANCES. And we're told he's apparently had years to hone his tightly-managed control, yet he slams doors so hard pictures rattle, he shouts rather than speak, he threatens and bosses instead of using rational conversation...I could go on for ages on this particular trait of his personality. Why his father, and more so, Amy, thought he was a prize was beyond me. A prize pig, perhaps?

Thirdly, the female lead was the weak kind of female that went out of fashion in the 70's, I mean, he comes out with the above, and she suddenly realises that she wants him and that everything about him screams sex? Hello??? On what backward planet?

1.0 out of 5 stars Below average 9 Jun 2013

Really struggled through this, the main characters just had nothing endearing about them. Amy was weak and it really annoyed me that she just happened to be great at everything she put her hand to, I.e "I aced chemistry therefore I'll be great at baking", "I took antique classes in college and I could always pick out genuine pieces".
Lucas was a bully and a snob.
The dialogue was awful and the rest of the writing was worse. As with most free books, this seemed written by someone who has read a lot of romance novels and thought "I can do that".

1.0 out of 5 stars awful 13 Dec 2011

this was very badly written. I am glad I did not pay for it. The basic storyline is ok if cliched and unoriginal but the writing was so 'clunky' that it was impossible to enjoy the story.
