If quiz books were sold by the pound, this would be off the scales. Value, Value, Value. A sale of this title will harm future sales of quiz books for years to come as the Amateur quizzer saves his cash and works through this quiz behemoth.

The Prestons have really worked their socks off to produce a high-quality, pertinent book with general knowledge and specialist questions that are bound to commonly appear in any good quiz that you go. With 20000 questions at £7 this is really good value for money. If you are a quiz enthusiast like me and you want to better your knowledge, then I would highly recommend buying this book - you will not regret it.

Once it became apparent that members of my extended family were thinking about taking me up on my generous (and somewhat alcohol-fuelled) offer of organising a good old-fashioned Christmas this year in a rented cottage in the middle of nowhere, my thoughts quickly turned towards trying to find things to occupy the whole lot of them over the festive period that might just keep their minds off squabbling with one another, arguing the toss with me or, just generally, being a right royal pain in my posterior. Quizzing struck me almost immediately as having the potential to do all that and I have therefore been stockpiling quiz books of all descriptions for the past few months.

I wasn't planning on running any pub quiz-type events per se, at least I wasn't until I came across this superb volume. My thoughts were more inclined towards dressing up like Anne Robinson and frightening the living daylights out of all-comers with a few rounds of something of the 'Weakest Link' interrogatory school. However, this is such a well-designed and inspirational work that I have somewhat changed my mind on that score. 'Weakest Link' will still feature prominently and, whatever else happens, I will still be dressed as Anne Robinson (well, semi-legitimate opportunities like that don't come along all that often - one has to make the most of them while one can)... but, in this case, it'll be Anne Robinson as she would appear on an average Sunday night of pub quizzing down the local boozer.

Equally as impressive as the vast selection of questions that this book provides is the wonderful sense of humour that's on display in both the 'Introduction' at the beginning and the guidance on 'How to Set Up Your Own Pub Quiz' at the end.

I bought this for my son for Christmas and he just loves it. We have had many family quizzes. The book is sectioned into different levels and small topics so it is easy to do a cheeky 20 question quiz after dinner! It has helped with all our general knowledge and there are plenty of topic to choose from.

There was only one minor fault with the description - deep into the book there were a couple of margin markers but otherwise, no problems. It is a great bedside book for dipping into and for creating quizzes for family and friends. The best quiz book I own, and I own quite a few.

I bought this along with On the Tip Of My Tongue for a friend who loves to excel in general know-it-all and needed some time filled after an operation. Well worth buying if you fit into the must know everything category.
