I sat down to leaf through this book and found I couldn't put it down. Not only is it beautifully illustrated but it's a delightful read. There are tons of great facts (did you know the father of Madonna's child appears in the movie?), some great essays (the one on "Jetsons" Googie architecture was an eye-opener) and some wonderful insight into the methodology of the Coen Brothers. The Big Lebowski is one of my top five fave movies and Jenny has just told me why. Thank you, Jenny. You abide!

Very interesting essay on the seinfeldian lexical what-have-you, which was not in the other worthy book about this film, "I'm a Lebowski, you're a Lebowski", but this luxuriously produced book failed to address two hugely important aspects of the TBL cult concerns:

1. The controversy surrounding the unfeasibly "long night" in the film and...
2. The obvious dispute over to whom the line: "Life does not stop and start at your convenience, you miserable piece of 5hit" was directed. It's very controversial and has consumed many thousands of posts in fan and film forums and has its own results in google searches ~ try looking for LDNSASAYCYMPOS ....

This is a very complicated case, Jenny. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. And, uh, a lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old David's head.
Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber.

And so I give it 3/5

Sorry Jenny.

Worthy achievement otherwise.

Lot of ins. Lot of outs. Lot of What Have Yous. 23 Sept. 2012
By Leo V. Lane - Published on Amazon.com

Short and sweet. This book is a lot of fun. It could be read in cover to cover fashion or you can flip through it and jump in anywhere. Fun, informative, and a lot that I have not read or known before. If you are a fan, this is a must.

An excellent companion to The Big Lebowski 20 Feb. 2014
By Colin Cheong - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I know there are folks who consider The Big Lebowski (the movie) much ado about nothing - and a little encyclopedia on it with very funny pictures would have even less reason to exist - BUT - it really does give a good insight into the world (and maybe minds) of the Coen brothers as well as the cult following that's grown up around the movie. It doesn't matter if you're a fan or not - you could even be a social anthropologist or film history doctoral student - but this book is just pure fun on its own - and actually begins to make sense once you've also seen the movie. It also alerts you to things to look out for the next time you watch the movie. Again.

If you're a true fan of this classic cult film, you can't be without this book. It's beautiful on the outside, perfect to display, and chock full of interesting facts and anecdotes about the movie and the Coen brothers in general.

So Cool! 19 Oct. 2012
By V - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
What a book! If you thought film criticism was dull and dry, read this! It's lively, fun, and insightful. And if you're a Lebowski fan, you'll love it all the more for all the behind-the-scenes tales, inspirations, and "analysis" of themes, famous lines, and gags. It's great stuff.
