There isn't enough music in the world spanning across genres like these Christopher Young compositions. I'd love to have more of this, tons of it. Where else would you find Hammond duets with a string quartet and accordion? Christopher Young scored music for the no man's land between Astor Piazzolla and Igor Stravinskji, Bill Frisell and Ute Lemper, klezmer and ECM, polka and Samuel Barber. It's a pity no one with a genuine interest for contemporary music will discover it, unless being caught by the movie. Composers like Young would deserve to be performed by the Berliner or the Kronos Quartet instead of "just" scoring for soundtracks. Forget the rest on this CD, that's plain accessories. Sound quality's top-notch, too, but who cares? Heavens don't come any closer than this.
