5.0 out of 5 stars Bringing the excitement back to bread 15 May 2005
I've been baking my own bread (by hand) for the past 5 yrs, and in that time, I've purchased and scoured all over for bread books that not only inspired me, but contained recipes that I would use regularly and were relatively hassle free.

I purchased this book almost 3-4 mths ago and it has already become a favourite. It has 365 recipes - 100 of which are for use with a bread machine. The recipes covered range from Everyday breads & rolls, Speciality & Festive breads, Flat breads, Quick breads, Breadmaker recipes, Gluten-free breads and Bread dishes - using bread as an ingredient in meals etc.

Anne Sheasby is a member of the Guild of Food Writers and the Institute of Consumer Sciences incorporating Home Economics in the UK, and to say she knows her stuff is an understatement! In her introduction and Bread Basics sections, she clearly explains all you need to know whether you are an experienced baker or a complete novice. I highly recommend this book to all bakers - it may not contain all bread recipes, but it does cover many of the different types of tasty breads (sweet and savoury) available globally. Each recipe is written clearly, easily accessible, and you'll just love its spiral-bound format - a great help when baking!

Most of the recipes have photos - although it would have been lovely to see more - but, don't let that put you off! Anne's recipes are thoroughly straight forward, stress-free, but most importantly... mouthwatering!!! So far, the recipe I keep running back to is her Honey Oatmeal bread...... You won't be disappointed with this book, I guarantee that you'll find a recipe that keeps you coming back for more and won't take up too much of your time or money!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'll never buy a supermarket loaf again! 28 July 2005
By McDravid VINE™ VOICE
I've been baking bread both by hand and with a breadmaker on and off for a few years, with passable but not brilliant results. Then I bought this book and I just can't stop baking bread! I haven't done anything like all the 365 recipes, but every one I have tried has been a success and brought compliments from satisfied tasters. Her breadmaker recipes are terrific and it encourages you to adapt her recipes to create your own masterpieces.

As I said in the title, once you have started baking out of this book, you'll never buy another plastic-wrapped loaf from a supermarket again, and you'll be curling your lip up and smirking as you stroll past their bread shelves.

5.0 out of 5 stars look no further for a Bread recipe book 12 Dec 2007

If you enjoy making and eating bread and dough related food, then this is the book for you, and the only bread recipe book you will ever need to buy. There is a chapter at the start which explains all the basics and outlines what you need to know about tins, yeast, etc. I've been baking bread for years but I learned a great deal from the first few pages of this book. It is beautifully written and illustrated, and like another reviewer I love the ring binder style. All recipes imaginable from basic white loaf, brioche, malt loaf, lardy cake, hot cross buns, paninis, tortillas, pitta, ciabatta, all manner of fruit loaves, as well as muffins and breadcrumb recipes such as tuna melts. All recipes for breadmakers and hand bakers. I tend to use a food processor to make dough and everything I have made so far adapts perfectly. This book lives in our lounge so I can glance at it in the evening, many times I have planned what I will have a go at the next day! Even caught my husband having a look at it, it really is a most appealing book! A real find, go ahead and buy it, you will be very pleased you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and delicious 16 Jan 2007

Bought this when I got a breadmaker and I have used it for everything since - basic bread, fancy breads, pizza base, rolls, nan bread etc - and it has all been utterly simple and utterly delicious! Have already bought one additional copy as a present and am about to buy it again for someone else. Brilliant: highly, highly recommended.

Pleasantly surprised to find this was a ringbinder book. LOTS of mouth-watering recipes! I have tried several of them and they were great! (The apple/ginger cake was delicious!) Lots of very detailed info on breadmakers and traditional breadmaking/making dough etc. Thumbs up from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book! 16 Jun 2008
I've only recently started having a go at making my own bread - and by that I mean a couple of weeks ago! However, I decided to invest in a couple of books so I would be able to make something different as well as basic plain everyday bread. And man am I glad I did it!
The book arrived less than a week ago and I've done nothing ever since other than make bread!
All the recipes are very clear, easy to understand and the sheer variety of them left me gobsmacked.
If you're thinking about getting this book, just do it! You won't regret it! I'm certainly glad I bought it.

I was pleased with the book it has great detail but I am a little dissapointed in the small amount of receipes for bread machines which is why I ordered the book in the first place, as the title makes you think that it is mostly for bread machines but there are only a few pages at the back of the book with machine receipes, infact the small receipe booklet that comes with your breadmaker has as much. But if I ever decide to do any baking by hand there are loads of receipes for me to try.
