These collections are always worthwhile. They seem to catch all of those weird and wise little details that would otherwise disappear into obscurity. An example is the interview Madonna gave to a Hungarian magazine, where the questions were asked in Hungarian, then translated into English, then Madonna's replies were translated into Hungarian, then the complete interview was published in Hungarian and THEN translated back into English! The result is absolutely hilarious gibberish. There are so many of these oddities that you'll feel compelled to share with friends and commit to memory. It adds up to a very classy book that most certainly isn't just for Christmas.

John Julius Norwich's compendium of the past ten of his Christmas Crackers is, as with previous volumes, a treasure trove of things of quality, quirkiness and frequently hilarious quaintness. The ultimate "dip-into" tome.
