Product Description

Olivia Wallace has a birthday curse . . . or so she thinks. It was a broken heart on her 16th, a car accident on her 21st, pneumonia on her 30th, and a fall down a flight of stairs on her 35th. There were Ohio blizzards on her 38th, 39th, and 40th; and six days before her 45th, she lost the love of her life to a heart attack. Numbing grief stole that birthday and a couple more to follow and, on the morning of her 48th birthday, she received the call she’d dreaded ever since losing her mom so many years ago…she was diagnosed with stage-3 ovarian cancer. The doctors didn’t hold out a lot of hope, but Liv survived and maintained her faith. Months of surgeries and chemotherapy and radiation treatments followed.

But now, as her 50th birthday creeps up the icy Ohio path toward her, her hair has grown back, her energy level is up, and she is officially cancer free. It makes her nervous. After everything she’s gone through, Liv hates the idea of driving on icy roads and returning to work as an O.R. nurse in a local Cincinnati hospital.

Her best friend Hallie knows just the thing to break Liv out of the winter doldrums, while providing a safe haven of warmth, sunshine, and a time to regroup: a holiday in the Florida sunshine!

4.0 out of 5 stars will they, won't they? 16 July 2011
By Lou
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Took a little to get into but the 'will they, won't they' theme played throughout the book. Nice and soppy as you know what the ending will be but with some depths in terms of life after cancer which is nice. The theme of a childs book playing throughout too worked well, as you could compare the 2 characters and see how similar they were. I'd recommend this book if you want to know what you're expecting!

4.0 out of 5 stars Blessing in disguise 27 July 2011
By Fi esta
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Fortunate for me that I enjoyed this book, as I ordered it by mistake on my kindle at 2.30 a.m. I tried to delete the order but due to lack of sleep, entered the wrong key again! (Probably not a good idea to enable the kindle store during the early hours during a sleepless night!)
It was an engaging book, although a few of the phrases were a littly flowery for my tastes, and made me wince slightly. I found my self interested enough in the characters, to stay on board and see how their story concluded.
A good book to read if you are at a cross-roads in your life, it's never too late....

4.0 out of 5 stars Light, fluffy chick-lit! 1 Aug 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story of Liv, her loneliness since losing her husband and her battle with ovarian cancer, to then find love after an enforced holiday miles from home, is indeed light and fluffy. However, once you realise that this is not going to be a great piece of literature, it becomes an immensely enjoyable, if predictable, love story.

I would not have knowingly chosen a novel with a Christian theme (I am not "anti", it just isnt my thing!), However, the references to the Bible and Scriptures are kept to a minimum, and I feel they added some depth of character to the main players, in the story.

If you are looking for a light holiday read, with some romance but not much else, then this is for you. If you prefer a more in depth read, then give this a wide berth!

I guess for me it was mood driven, that I enjoyed it, after having just read something quite a bit deeper!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Nauseating Christian Fiction 30 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Amazon product description says "Liv survived and maintained her faith" and perhaps that should have been a warning to me. Very early on in the book are several references to religion, such as "I know Jesus will take good care of you on the island". I persevered. I wish I hadn't. A little later the main character (Liv) goes to church and bursts into tears during a long sermon which contains numerous references to god and of course just happens to unsubtly elude to Liv's loss of faith. It was nauseating. At that point I realised I had been had. This is Christian Lit. I did not finish.

Do not buy this unless Christian Fiction is your sort of thing. Luckily I got it when it was free. It no longer resides on my Kindle. Aside from the religious overtones, the book is overly light, has unbelievable characters, a heavily sign-posted plot, and is full of mundane details such as what colour Liv paints her toe nails.

I do wish publishers/authors would declare when they are going to try to evangelise in a book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Light Read 6 Sep 2011
By shelly
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I actually liked this it was a nice happy light enjoyable romance which made me smile but also got me misty eyed as well, others have said if you like christian romance then this is for you?? to be honest throughtout reading the book i never once considered it to aim at being 'into' god, i just found it an enjoyable lighthearted romance...yes perhaps the ending was predictable but so what it was fun getting there!

3.0 out of 5 stars Predictable, easy and light entertainment 29 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
To be honest, I did not expect a lot of this book because of the title and description - but I was mistaken - I enjoyed it from the beginning till the end! It was very predictable and light, but I did not mind as I was looking for such a book when reading it (not my regular type of book choice). I wondered why a nurse used to stormy weather would drive home under such circumstances, but again I didn't really mind given what I was looking for. If you are looking for a book with depth or showing a lot of creativity from the writer, then this one isn't meant for you - but if you are looking for some easy entertainment, you may give it a try.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good 'fluffy; book! 22 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is what I call a 'fluffy' book! A nice easy, enjoyable read, made me laugh out loud several times. I was lucky to download it for free, don't think its quite worth £[], but if it drops again, grab it quick.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quiet good actually
This book was quiet a good read.
But, about half to three quarters way through, it started mentioning God and religion. Not too Much to put you off the read though.
