For fans of Blaxploitation cinema and Pam Grier this three-disc set is probably the set to get. This is Pam Grier at her baddest, getting to grips with lesbian prison guards and hot hard women in Black Mama, White Mama; and then getting down and dirty with pushers and pimps.
For Pam Grier, Black Mama, White Mama is very much the same path that she trod in The Big Doll House and the Big Bird Cage. She is incarcerated in a far off jungle prison, compromised by hot babes and rampaging lesbian guards. There is plenty of action and naked babes as the two women, the other played by Margaret Markov fight off the pursuing guards and revolutionaries as they make their escape.
Coffy and Foxy brown are almost identical films in which Pam Grier goes after drug pushers and pimps who put her lover and sister in hospital. Pam Grier becomes the hard hitting, jive talkin' hot mama to give the low-lifes their just desserts and the funky musical score will take you back to the days of mirrorballs and psychedelic discos.

What might appear on the box to be just gratuitous exploitation 70's flicks actually do have some plot and some acting abilities. They ALSO have pure visual excitement and indeed, pleasure, though these days, you probably wouldn't want to shout about it.
I'm sure Tarantino had some of the essence rubbed off on him from this genre (Pam Greer was the featured lead in his later Jackie Brown) and you could also say that they're Bond films, but made adult. I enjoy 'high-art' world cinema but occasionally, late at night, nothing seems more perfect to get down watching more base and frankly, dirty no-holds barred, grimy U.S features with big characters, big hair, big cars and guns and other big 'assets'.
Pam Greer is the ultimate 'Wonder Woman'; charismatic, beautiful and sassy. She also kicks serious ass! "Soul Cinema" is definitely not for everyone and would probably find most favour with older, single guys. The set is also brilliant value, too!

Great fun!
Never mind the storylines (or storyline, in the case of Coffy and Foxy Brown, they're clones, not twins).
Just sit back, grab some pop corn and enjoy Pam Grier talking that jive, toting those guns, bringing justice to all and showing some skin in the process.
