Eliza is a young girl, who's parents have died, which leaves her, and her older brother Bart in the not so capable hands of their Uncle Enoch. On Barts return from work one evening he tells Eliza he has to leave as he has just accidently killed a man on the docks.

So the story begins.... the first chapter puts you right in the thick of it all, Eliza is treated badly by her uncle, who beats her, and eventually sells her to a young doctor called Freddie.
Eliza falls head over heels in love with Freddie, but it seems it just wasn't meant to be when he is sent away to Australia.

Meanwhile, Bart is in New Zealand, trying to make his riches by panning for Gold. He meets a young prostitute, and he falls deeply in love with her, which causes many problems for the 'lovestruck' pair.
All is fair from plain sailing in this book, there are many twists and turns, many of which you could not predict.

This is another book which is a credit to Dilly Court, and her amazing abilities as an author. This book longs to be read, and is inviting, after the first chapter you end up hooked!

What can I say about Dilly Court except that she is an excellent writer and would thoroughly recommend her books. They are easy reading and most interesting and once I start to read them I am hard pushed to put them down To date I have purchased 16 of them and still have two to read and she has written another book which is due for release in paperback on 11 Sep 2014; it goes without saying that I will purchase it.
