Product Description

Revered by fans of 60s Harmony Pop, the Symbols have the distinction of being the first band signed to fledgling UK independent label President Records in 1966. Their debut release See You In September heralded a string of classy singles largely inspired by US vocal groups such as the Four Seasons and saw them tour Europe and the States extensively. In turn, their version of Bye Bye Baby laid down the blueprint for 70s teenybop heartthrobs the Bay City Rollers’ No.1 smash.

This collection marks the first-ever worldwide release of their entire President output together with previously unissued outtakes and hitherto unreleased demo recordings.

Excellent album by a band that underachieved
great harmonies
clearly inspired by tony rivers, the beach boys and the four seasons
but very impressive in their own right

Harmonic mid-60s Pop Sound 18 Jun. 2007
By TeeBee - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
The reviewer who cites this as a "pre-Beatles"-sounding group is mistaken. The Symbols have an obvious Beatles-Hollies influence in their vocals, with a bit of The Association thrown in. If you like strong group harmonies with a late-60s production sound... here's your album. P.S. anybody who buys a disc because the cover shows the group dressed in psychedelic fashion expecting to hear something like Pink Floyd needs to learn how to audition before buying! Dear child of the 90s: EVERY group dressed like that in 1967!

Don't let the cover fool you 15 Dec. 2005
By Psychedelic Guy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Ok this cd I really felt gipped on...I saw the cover and they looked like a really heavy Psych group, and they really sounds liek a pre-British Invasion group, they did a few 4 season covers and those were good, but seeing the cover I was expecting more of a Psychedelic sound, but this is far from it. If you like Psych music I wouldn't recomend this. But it's and ok group for pre-beatle fans.

The Symbols 22 Aug. 2006
By Richard A. Bond - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I have to say that I have spent a long time looking for an album of the hits of The Symbols. I am very pleased that I now have a copy of their music; it is second to none and reminds me of my youth.

Brilliant.

Great CD 8 May 2012
By Mickee Tabor Crisp - Published on Amazon.com

This is an outstanding group, they sound like the 4 seasons, the Newbeats, their songs are great, their versions of "Bye Bye Baby", "See You In September" "Silence Is Golden" are well worth the price to purchase this CD. This is a must for collectors to add to their collection. I highly recommend this CD!
