Truly the Very Best of 21 Feb 2013
By Jens Hultgren - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Here you have the absolutely best songs of Stanley Turrentine from the seventies on one album, Salt Song - Sugar - Don't Mess With Mr T - Speedball that was on the original LP album (that I prefer) but here with four titles added.
Much as I love his sixties Blue Notes, Stanley was never better than this. This was the first album of his I bought, and I was stimulated to buy many more but was mostly disappointed and this still stands out as the best of the bunch. Not a weak moment. Fantastic support by especially Ron Carter, but also Billy Cobham, Jack de Johnette, George Benson, Kenny Burell, Milt Jackson, Freddie Hubbard and others.

I was hoping I was going to like it as much as In the Pocket. It is good, but I would have rather had the other album.
