Format:Audio CD
Beware if you purchesse this CD. It has been recorded from the original Vinyl Long Players. Comes complete with scratches and sound quality that is totally unacceptable for modern Hi-Fi equimpment.
Save your money and buy a new digital recording DDD that will be quality for your music enjoyment.
This double CD has a total of fifty tracks which include the LPs of 'Holiday in Rome', 'Vienna Holiday part 1 & 2', 'I Love Paris' and does include The Widmills of your Mind, Summer of '42, Sea and Sky sung by Dusty Springfield and A Place In Paris sung by Matt Monro.
Another CD for the Charity Shop.

Excellent CD featuring a great variety of songs. You will probably be familiar with 'Windmills Of Your Mind' from the Thomas Crown Affair and will most likely recognise the 'Third Man Theme' but I particularly liked the 'Holiday In Rome' songs. This is classic stuff and the music is wonderful (I found the sound quality to be excellent) For the budget price this is very good value for 50 songs! 5 stars.

"Best Of"? Not Really........

The title is a misnomer if you're after Michel Legrand's most-celebrated music as (mainly film) composer; the vast bulk of this two-CD collection is devoted to three mid-fifties albums rather than his much-more famous music from the sixties and seventies. Only two of his hits, "The Windmills Of Your Mind" and "Summer Of '42" are included, along with three other stereo recordings from the early 70's. The rest is not only in mono but the transfers are clearly from vinyl sources, with obvious "swish" and "crackle". And the music is not Legrand's, being his (admittedly refreshing) arrangements of French, Viennese, and Italian popular song standards. There is nothing from his greatest score "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" and overall this offers a very skewed portrait of this wonderful composer. Only buy if you like romantic easy-listening of the Mantovani/Percy Faith school and don't mind mono.
