This best CD takes me back to those happy and exciting days in the 80's. It contains 16 good tunes, but especially 'Half a Minute', 'Sneaking Out The Back Door', 'Good Times', 'Wap Bam Boogie', and of course 'Whose Side Are You On?' would be the best ones. In my view the chorus/harmonics that Basia brought to this band was one of the best or most memorable things about original Matt Bianco. Unfortunately Basia and Danny White left the band and they established Basia as a solo singer, which was a good thing in one way, as I liked especially two albums she and White released afterwords very much, but on the other hand I can't help thinking what Matt Bianco would have been like with them in the band. Basia is obviously a VERY talented singer with her clear high-tone voice that reminds me of the clear water in the streams in high mountains, but it might have been another good option if she had remained mainly as a backing chorus performer, because the multiplex harmonics arrangement of her own voice was so good that I still sing her chorus parts in 'Whose Side Are You On?' when I'm walking in the streets of London.. Basia took the lead vocal in some songs like 'Half a Minute', and it was very good. But one of the elements I liked about this song was that the girl in the backing chorus was singing the leading part.
The post Basia-White Matt Bianco became more like house & disco for a while, which was fun and matched well with the trend of those times, but still the jazz/pop tunes before that were catchy, artistic and technical, which, I must say, I liked very much. Their brief reunification with the album 'Matt's Mood' in 2004 was again good and fun, and both Mark and Basia's voices are as good, but it wasn't the same as when they were together back in 1984. But it was still very nice to see the original three back together!
Anyway, if you had good times in the 80s and enjoyed going to discos, the punk fashion, the new romantics, jazzy pop, the early house music etc etc, try this CD! I hope you enjoy it too! Cheers!
