The only song you may have heard from Liverpool Express is 'You are my love' which opens up this best of compilation with its famous `echoey' piano beginning and atmospheric feel.
If you liked that then I think you'd like the dramatic balladry of 'Every man must have a dream', the cheery pop of 'Smile' and also 'It's a beautiful day' with its simple voice and acoustic guitar arrangement that might just be familiar (It recently featured on TV as a song behind a breakfast cereal ad!). There is also the mini epic 'Julian the Hooligan' with its many interesting twists and turns.
There are two songs here that come from later period Liverpool Express, the 1980s single 'So what' and from the 2003 CD 'Once upon a time', 'John George Ringo & Paul' about you know who!
As a fan I would like to have seen a double CD as the 'Dreamin' and 'LEX' vinyl albums are not on CD but if you like 70s pop music (inspired by the Beatles) this is highly recommended, as the song writing prowess of (mainly) Roger Scott Craig and Billy Kinsley is well in evidence. It is also a very handy collection of the band as well.
