In the late 1960s Jimmy Cliff was along with Desmond Dekker the popface of the burgeoning reggae-scene. He hit the charts with the unashamedly commercial tracks 6,7,9 and 12, that still sound fresh today. He gained fame starring in the underground hitmovie The harder they come, contributing great classic tracks to its soundtrack (10,15,19). But then he tried to record soul and the results were solid but undistinguished tracks 8,16,20. This compilation does present all his other great reggae tracks such as the opening track, Sufferin' in the land and Struggling man.
An enjoyable cd for a great price and the best Jimmy Cliff around.
