Caliente Latin Jazz 9 May 2007
By Massimo Cardinaletti - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Greatest timbalero of all times, we miss Tito so much for his passion he communicated so well and for the unique "savor" of his music. The selection is a real "Best of T.P.", even though a three-CDs Compilation is actually the "Best of T.P.": Ran Kan Kan, Oye Como Va, Take Five, Picadillo a la Puente, just to cite a few, are some of the masterpieces standing high among our latin jazz favorites. All artists collaborating are the best for their instruments, including Aguabella, Maynard Ferguson and great violinist Alfredo de la Fè. Do not miss it if you don't want to buy all the single records/CDs of Tito.
Puente's Genius 9 May 2014

If you love Tito this is a must have. The best way for me to listen to his music is with my eyes closed. I let the rhythms penetrate my soul! I know this might sound too sentimental and not technical, but when you listen deeply and hear the percussion and his orchestra exchange their calls you are in the groove like a hypnotic trance.
not necessarily the best performances of these pieces 15 Mar. 2015

I bought the collection mainly because I liked Puente's band's live version of "Take Five" that I heard on Youtube. After listening to the album version and then to the live version again, I realized the solos are completely different and I prefer the live version.

just plain enjoyable.

This is the the 2nd album I've gotten in the "Best of Concord Years" series, and both have been great. Great musicians playing great songs...., um...., greatly.
