Okay - so either you're gonna love new found glory's kinda style, or you're not. If you don't, then generic emo band # 4 is that way -->
This album is beyond amazing. Why? Because it's a round up of new found glory's singles with a new track and some album tracks thrown in for good measure.
YEAH the vocals may be whiny, YEAH they sing about girls alot. YEAH it's up tempo stuff. BUT, nfg are gonna be a well respected band at some point, and not thought of as "mtv fluff" stuff. This album is a superb collection - if a bit short! Def put it on shuffle!
1. Situations
The opener is new song "situations" - with a harder edge, but the same lyrical content, it does actually show how NFG are maturing as musicians.
2. Hit Or Miss (Waited Too Long)
-The- nfg anthem. you'll have heard this. And you'll hear it again. And again. It will get stuck in your head. Taken from mainstream album number 1 - titled "new found glory", it's got wit, humor and totally packages up what nfg are all about.
3. Dressed To Kill
My personal fave from the self titled, and defo one of their best. crunchy guitars, and angst. it's the summer of 2002!!!!!!
4. My Friends Over You
MTV. Their "breakthrough" single - and man it's awesome. Defiantly one you'll love if you're new to nfg, and one you'll remember if you're not.
5. Head On Collision
Follow up to MFOY, bit more mid tempo, but ups the lyrical stuff. A definite solid song you'll find yourself coming back to.
6. Understatement
Album track from "sticks and stones" - and what a hard choice picking tracks from that album must've been, this song is just like the rest - which is a good thing!
7. All Downhill From Here
New found glory's first single from Geffen album three - "Catalyst" [an epic album in it's own right] - you may have heard this, a lot more heavier than previous singles and tracks, it's powerful stuff.
8. I Don't Wanna Know
a ballad!!!! well, kinda. A soundtrack song to everyday life.
9. Failure's Not Flattering (What's Your Problem)
ha ha! single 2 or 3 [depends where you live] - utter class pop-punk. probably one of their finest.
10. It's Not Your Fault
The lead [...] single from fourth - grown up - album "COming Home". Coming home saw the guys put on golf jumpers [!] and turn the volume down and try and up the ante lyrically. this song works...
11. Hold My Hand
Strange choice from "coming home"... but not a bad one. Picks up the tempo, showcases Jordan's new.. voice.
12. Constant Static
Last track - bonus track from "catalyst" and it's a strange choice to end on, but a strong song. Harder edge, hard lyrics... i think truth of my youth would've been better...
there we have it. This is just my opinion, and i'm not gonna lie, i'm a HUGE nfg fan.
If you've heard one or two tracks and though "hmm..." but never heard more - get this!
If you have sticks and stones - get this.
If you have everything else - hi :)
