DVD Description

Never Mind the Buzzcocks host Simon Amstell and team captain Phill Jupitus have a rare out of hours get together to look back at some exclusive, never-before-aired, deleted material from the last 3 series. This Exclusive DVD Featurette includes clips ranging from the too rude, too drunk, too nasty, too sweary, too awkward and in absolutely no instances too funny for TV.

Also featured on this ‘Best of’ DVD are compilation special episodes from the last three series presented by Simon Amstell (2007-2009):

Never Mind the Buzzcocks - Technically, the Best Series Ever. A thrilling look back at what were technically some excellent moments from the last series. Featuring a galaxy of technically good celebrity bookings and many, many technically funny sentences. Yes!

Never Mind The Buzzcocks – A Moving Tribute. A touching retrospective on Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Never Mind The Buzzcocks… Imagine a mildly amusing panel show. Alan Yentob takes a look back at the most talked about moments from the series, including Amy Winehouse spitting, Preston walking and Lilly Allen controversially wearing funny glasses.

At first, I was delighted to see that, at long last, a DVD of Never Mind The Buzzcocks was going to come out. But I must say that the actual product don't quite match my (admittedly high) expectations. No efforts in compiling the best bits of the three Simon Amstell-led series have been made for this DVD, and we only get the three compilation shows the BBC aired at the end of each season.

As for unseen footage, there is roughly 45 minutes of it. Some of it makes for pleasant viewing - mostly thanks to the (compulsory) commentary from Amstell and Phil Jupitus - but Buzzcocks have always been a show that works best when viewed in full so I think it'd have worked better if some complete shows had been included (the ones with Anthony Costa, Lee Ryan or Midge Ure for instance). I was also hoping that the never-aired Russell Brand episode would be included here. It is not.

These days, you don't want to buy a fully priced DVD and only get 45 minutes of new material for your hard-earned money. It's especially disappointing since there was obviouly plenty of material to choose from.

I know a lot of people are disappointed this isn't a dvd featuring an entire series of the music quiz, but to be honest the BBC are pumping out series after series of this so often that it would have taken an awful lot of dvd's to cover all the best bits of the show. Three half hour end of series episodes covering the best bits of the series might not sound like much, but they are still very funny and you'll probably watch them a couple of times each. I believe that if you understand what your getting on this dvd, you will not be disappointed. The dvd also contains commentary by Simon Amstell and Phil Jupitus, but to be honest I didn't really enjoy that part of the dvd. All in all, worth picking up if your a buzzcocks fan and you can get it cheap.

Adds nothing. 3 Jan 2011

While the never mind the buzzcocks series is very good and I really enjoyed the ones Simon presented this dvd adds nothing of value. All the "extras" is severely sub standard compared to the show, just like nobody in the production cared at all (and that was probably the case). I guess the production company is worth the monetary support for the series, but the dvd isn't.

Meh
This was delivered very quickly in top condition... but the DVD itself isn't amazing. It's funny enough but the constant discontinuation is annoying. Read more

Never Mind the Buzzcocks is one of the funniest tv-shows with a host. Simon Amstell is so great as host and I'm so sad that he left. At least we have this DVD. Read more
