2.0 out of 5 stars Out with the old, this isn't new... 3 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
Some good techniques in the book that you can go through step by step, pretty well illustrated and explained decently. However, the rest of the book is quite outdated now; for example there's current (at the time of going to press) interviews with GSP after he lost the Welterweight belt to Matt Serra. Many moons ago as GSP has won back the belt and defended it since several times!
On the whole it's an ok read for a couple of quid but you might as well get your submissions from YouTube (type 'submissions 101') and you can keep track of the MMA world by buying Fighters Only magazine every month.

Hope that helps :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Straight forward MMA guide 16 Aug 2008
By T. Bently VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
This is a large format, easy-to-follow MMA guide with lots of colour photos and clear explanations of techniques. It isn't much different from other martial arts guides on the market, except that it features Randy Couture.

One strange decision was to have the guys wearing red t-shirts/shorts AND have them fighting on a red mat. Black and white clothes would have made things simpler.

2.0 out of 5 stars About a 20 minute read and it's over... 30 Nov 2011
By JonL33
Format:Paperback
Very short magazine/ad style "book" - not worth picking up except for a bit of outdated tidbits of info on the sport/last decade's rising stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars A rehash of magazine articles 4 Mar 2008

If you've read the magazine more than once then you have probably read much of the content of this book. Better to spend your money on a subscription to TAPOUT.

I have been doing MMA off and on for about three years. This provided not only good reading material, but moves that my friends and I can practice in the gym.

I learned a good little bit from how Randy Cotoure trains for his fights and definitely tried it out in the gym. I would recommend this book to a friend.
