Book Description

Multi-award-winning, bestselling cartoonist Matt's hilarious review of the last twelve months.

About the Author

Matt studied at St Martin's School of Art in London and first saw himself published in the New Statesman during one of its rare lapses from high seriousness. He has been the Daily Telegraph's pocket cartoonist since 1988. He was 'WHAT THE PAPERS SAY' CARTOONIST OF THE YEAR three times and is also five times winner of the UK PRESS GAZETTE CARTOONIST OF THE YEAR. He has won the CARTOON ART TRUST POCKET CARTOONIST OF THE YEAR AWARD six times, most recently in 2013, and in 2002 he received an MBE.

Matt never seems to fail. I have bought his books for several years and they are as funny as ever. Long may he continue as a cartoonist.

Another year and Matt has once again excelled himself. His humour is gentle but often provoking. Something to remember the year by, both good and bad events, in a fun way.

In my opinion, the Telegraph's Matt is the pocket cartoonist to beat all others. He just seems to know what we think and how we feel about the various news stories. He sympathises with our indignation and feels our pains and joys and he is able to express them succinctly with a few strokes of his pen. And he is the more remarkable in that he is never, ever nasty or unkind about anyone. He does not have to resort to cruel sarcasm or unpleasant sniping in order to make us laugh out loud - and that is something to rejoice in these days. Buy the book: it will cheer you up in these wet/dark/cold winter months.

Matt is the best cartoonist in the English press. His cartoons are always topical, witty and humorous. Hundreds of readers of the Telegraph look firstly at his front page cartoon before any headline or other item. The cartoons lighten each day and when on holiday he is sadly missed. His annual provides a comic diary of events and topics through the year and is essential Christmas shopping.

Good fun topical cartoons. Interesting & easy to glance at in any odd moment. A must for anyone who follows these cartoons in the Daily Telegraph.
