If it had been up to Joss Stone, this "best of" set would've never seen the light of day. Let's just say the free-spirited British soultress didn't always see eye to eye with her record label EMI so an agreement was made that in order to set her free from their control for good, they'd get to release a greatest hits set. Good thing Joss got the final say on the artwork and the title, because Super Duper Hits has to be one of the most lame titles I've ever heard.
The Best of Joss Stone compiles the diva's best known singles from her 2003 debut Soul Sessions to her 2009 final EMI record Colour Me Free. The evolution from a young teen with a voice beyond her years covering a pop rock song (the psycedelic Fell in Love with a Boy) as well as older soul tunes (Super Duper Love) and recording contemporary material based in that same sound (You Had Me, the smoldering late nighter Spoiled, and Don't Cha Wanna Ride) to a young woman taking control of her sexuality (Tell Me 'Bout It) and her career (the old school funk of Free Me). Also included is Stone's cover of the Nat King Cole classic L-O-V-E from the Chanel perfume ads featuring Keira Knightly.
Casual listeners who want a sample of Joss Stone's work, go for it and make sure you check out the rest of her albums. Everyone else need not apply.
