Format:Audio CD
What a fantastic CD!! It has appealed to my whole family, My husband and myself as Pogues, Saw Doctors and Waterboys fans and to my 2 little girls who have not yet progressed beyond teenybop songs.
Some truly brilliant tracks from The Oysterband, Steeleye Span, Runrig, Capercaillie, Fairport Convention and of course Lindisfarne. It is impossible to listen to this music and keep the foot from tapping. 'All Around My Hat' by Steeleye Span had my 8 year old dancing a Michael Flately routine in the kitchen in her football boots. It is a must for parties and gatherings because it will instantly lift the mood.
It is rare to get a CD where 16 out of 18 of the tracks are brilliant and the remaining 2 are pleasant. I would wholeheartedly recommend this CD to any music fans.

Capercaillie start this programme of selected Folk Rock tracks from the Park Records stock and distribution label. There are other contributions from Steeleye Span, Oyster Band, The Strawbs, Fairport Convention, Runrig, Pentangle, Lindesfarne and New Celeste.
This compilation album from 1996 has an impressive line up of recording artists but not the best showcase of these groups. This was simply a chance for Park Records to show off some of the artists they had on their label either as acts signed to them or purely through distribution. It is what used to be known as a "Sampler".
Five of the tracks are actually live recordings and none of the tracks showcase the original line up of each group.
However there are some great songs here and it makes a good compilation album. The highlight for me is the track "The Golden Vanity" by Steeleye Span. This is a great track originally from the recordings sessions for their album "Time" released the same year. This track did not make it on to the album "Time" (there was enough time on the album to have included it but Park Records kept it over to add weight to this compilation) It is a great track and it is the only place where it is available even now after all these years.
This is a good compilation with good solid sound and variety. There is good familiarity with the song choice and the performances are very good.

This is an excellent folk/rock combination cd with a good mix of old favourites and songs i hadn't heard before. There are some great jigs to dance along to. The Strawbs - Part of the Union was a good song to end on.
For me this cd worked well as i knew most of the songs but didn't have a lot of the groups already on cd.
