Book Description

4 Dec 2000

The Miller Shanks Christmas party is going to be the best and most impressive ever – or at least, that’s the plan. It certainly turns out to be unforgettable…

Once again told entirely in a series of e-mails, the further adventures of the characters from e take them into the run-up to Christmas. Harriet’s determined to make her first party as MD mega-memorable, but even her much-tested imagination can’t predict what actually happens.

Meanwhile, Pinki wants to change the world by introducing Real Women Barbies and Simon has resurfaced to write a novel – which is rejected by a publishing director known to many of us…

Once again Miller Shanks is thrown into a world of chaos, booze, drugs and odd sexual encounters, in the brilliant sequel to the also brilliant 'E'. A story told entirely in e-mails that will have you turning page after page after page until it is gone - and you realise you've just done a whole book in one evening. Anybody could identify with some of the characters in this book - and even if you don't, you'll have a whole load of belly laughs trying. READ IT. NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars M@tt Beaumont does it again!!! 18 Dec 2000

Format:Paperback
The E Before Christmas is the perfect follow up to my novel of the year, the brilliant 'E'. I read it in one afternoon and laughed out loud at the usual characters from Miller Shanks and their inability to organise a christmas party. It was great to read what the characters from 'E' with their bitchy and backstabbing ways were up to now. I have never worked in Advertising myself, but I think the characters could be translated into any company really, as email-politics is rife in any organisation. I would recommend that you read 'E' first, as it is nice to get to know the characters personalities before you read the second book. Although this is not necessary, my friend read this book first and now has stolen my copy of 'E'. In short this is a fantastic page-turner of a little book (little being the operative word as it is only 128 pages!) full of the conniving emails you'd expect from Matt Beaumont's loveable characters (my favourite is David Crutton). I cannot wait for the next instalment!!...

5.0 out of 5 stars Spilling your sides. 9 April 2001

from your friends and hello from Germany! I have just been pleasured by reading your most funny and often-times belly making story. You are whimsy and truthfullness, and even here in Germany - where our sensing of humour is mostly refined to the max - I can see the grist of the comedies. I read you magnet opium "E" first, and this is for helping to know how you mad peoples got that way round! You are crazy horses one and all. I took but one eve to read the covers to covers, and wet my plants laughing with you. If you could please to send me your further writing so soon, I can barely waiting, Helmut.
