the Beekeeper is Theo Angelopoulos' seventh film and features leading man Marcello Mastroianni. It is a slow, carefully composed film, a sequence of memorable images, some visually beautiful, others showing the gritty harshness of life. There is a constant shifting between dreams and realities that leaves what actually happens shrouded in doubt, and a moody atmosphere of nostalgia that pervades the whole film.

A simple story well told with compeling performances which takes you in different places than you expect to go. A middle aged beekeeper meets the last few friends who still move bees at certain times of the year, he then picks up a hitchhiker, a young free spirited girl who both uses and and loves ther older man.
A long, slow and deep story which makes you question who is using who. It also comments very well changing times.

Slowly Intoxicating
The film is very slow to start and very slow to end, however, once you are in the mood for such a slow burner the storyline wraps you up and takes you on the journey with Spyro. Read more

A very expensive and boring way of saying nothing - though maybe not...
