This book is fantastic, a good read, I very rarely wear make up, and am a bit of a perfectionist when i do something, problem was i had loads of makeup but didn't know how to apply it. So after searching long and hard I decided to get the Iman book, and boy was it a really insightful book.

It gave me the basics of cleansing, toning and moisturising and for my skin type (as well as many other types). It also suggested makeup ranges/types to buy (Iman, Mac, prescriptives). And Which Foundations(and other makeup) to choose for your skin type and colour, furthermore what tools to have to apply the makeup as this makes a great difference).

After all of this it gave a very clear step by step guide(written and illustrated) of how to apply the make up e.g. blending techniques, keeping the makeup in place on your face (for my oily T zone) and different looks for different events and times in the day. The illustrations are great to look at,and very inspirational.

Also I was impressed that it gave different looks for different ages.

I Have copied these looks and look very natural but very different, because i have learnt so much i have adapted this information to my own style, and am very happy.

I really enjoyed reading and using this book. I found the step by step guides although I would have liked for the book to go into more detail.

You can find a real mix of tips from skin care and moisturisers, eye shadow/eyebrows, foundation and concealer. There are also a few before and afters, which is also good as you can see the potential you can achieve.

A real help and would recommend this book to others.

As black woman who doesn't wear makeup everyday i needed a book which would tell me in detail what was the right make up for my skin colour and also how to apply it, so that when i do wear makeyp it looks flaweless. I got this and a whole lot more from this book and am only dissapointed with myself that i didn't discover it sooner.

The beauty of colour made me aware of all the makeup mistakes which i had been making over the years, where i was going wrong and how to correct them.

If/when Iman writes another book, I shall be one of the first people to buy it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll think i'll read it once again!

This beauty book is packed full of pictures of gorgeous women and has different makeup looks for different skin tones and various ethnic origins.

It is a real pleasure to look through and I have picked up some good ideas and tips on both makeup and skincare.

I do wish there was a greater variety of looks for my own skin tone. Iman does try to accommodate different ethnicities but I just think the book is too short which is a shame.

On the plus side there are step by step instructions and before and after pictures which are great! Overall I would recommend this book for beauty buffs, it is quite lovely and fairly informative.

I have had the book Iman The Beauty of Color: The Ultimate Beauty Guide For Skin of Color by Iman in my wishlist for quite some time before purchasing it. One of the reasons has to do with my own interest to get some makeup ideas. My decision was also influenced after I watched the music video for Remember The Time by Michael Jackson because of the air of self-confidence she radiated in the music video (the same self- confidence vibe that is projected through many of her online/media interviews). This caught my attention because she probably has challenging days just like anybody else. However, the self-confidence she frequently projects through her own interviews reminds me of one of the personal goals I have to aim for higher self-confidence regardless of any life tests I may encounter. Yes, just a few years ago, I tilted towards the happiness aspiration spectrum However, I have ironically been feeling better (even in the midst of unexpected events in my life) since I have instead refocused my aim towards higher self-confidence. Anyhow, this makeup book features women from various skin complexion spectrums (models by the names of Oluchi,Ming, Brenda, and Mariana) and various celebrities (Padma Lakshmi, Kimora Lee Simmons,Liya Kebede, Alicia Keys and many more famous people featured). She also shows different techniques on how to apply eye shadow such as on page 95, plus much more.

this book is great for gaining general knowledge on how to makeup skin of darker complexions. Great for beginners the way she speaks can be a little irritating in a "daaaarling air kissin yes we all know your a model with links to the stars and probably sleep in designer pyjamas enough already" kinda way but once yo ignore all of that its really informative. so 2 thumbs up
